Formal or Informal?

What type of birth announcement did you use or are you planning to use? Do you already have them?

There are so many options out there; a simple search of “Birth Announcements” yielded over four million results!

What do your announcements look like?

Haven't really thought about it yet... both my sister and best bud are pregnant, and I'm waiting to test to see if I am or not. Basically, I'm looking for advice from someone who's "been there"/"Done that".

My best friend just sent out the cutest announcements for her 10-month-old daughter from China. They have a stork on the front with a pink baby blanket. Inside, they have a space for the baby's age, along with the name, etc. She also included a picture, and Rian's so cute!

Tip - prep your announcements early

I didn't get a chance to send announcements out for either of my girls. Things were just too crazy afterwards for me. If you want to send out announcements, I would recommend you filling out as much as possible, addressing the cards, even putting in the name if you already know it. Stamp those suckers, too. If possible, get a sister or mom to agree to send them out for you. Otherwise, you might be in my boat - I've got tons of BEAUTIFUL announcements in my closet. Who knows what I'll end up doing with them.

My boys were born in November. So, I considered doing announcements, but then I decided I still wanted to send out holiday cards. And there was no way that I'd have time to do both.

So, we sent out a holiday card that was so cute. It was a pic of the boys with big red bows on their diapers and wearing Santa hats. They were facing each other and were sound asleep. We got so many calls about the great cards we'd sent out.

Oh, and this was really funny. When DH and I were sadly dealing with IF and didn't have kids yet, we were fed up with the constant barrage of holiday cards coming to our house with everyone's kids' pics on them. So, we had a friend take a pic of the two of us with our dog and we sent out holiday greetings from the three of us. AGain, we got numerous compliments on how funny and cute our card was.

I am only 4 wks prego and I have already planned out my christmas cards and birth announcements. I think a simple picture card you make at Walmart is perfect, or they sell the cutest kits..... but always include a photo, even if they still look squishy LOL
