Confused about HCG levels

They day I found out I was pregnent the doctor had given me a few blood tests so I called the next day to see how I made out. She said My HCG level is 165 and that means I am the stages of a very early pregnancy. Would 5-7 weeks be considered an early preagnency? Im so confused and worried. I asked her if that was bad and she said not that she was aware of. I was searching through google and everyone said they are already in the 1,000's for 5 weeks. The nurse said she diddn't even kno why my doctor was doing the ultrasound this thursday since i wasnt close to 1,000 yet. When i saw him he said I might be able to see the heartbeat. Iv'e never been so excited and worried my whole life. Im thinking about all the bad things that could go wrong. Everyone keeps telling me not to but its so hard!!

Congradulations on being ! I do not know for sure the answer to your question but I do know that its not the number itself but if it is doubling at the right pace. What are your other beta test numbers?

I think she said something about my progesterone level being 14...but I might of misunderstood her. Other than that she diddn't tell me any of the others.

My levels were VERY low when I was pregnant with my DD. Started out at 79, then to 165, and then finally to 700 something. I ended up having a perfect pregnancy, so even with low numbers starting, everything can be ok!

mle612, do you remember when you had the 79 hcg lever beta? I just got a 76 at 16dpiui and I'm assuming that it's not viable, but I would love to hear something positive about this....

Try,

My RE said anything over 50 was considered good. So I think your number sounds fine. It would be the equivalent of a 13 day post 3-day transfer number for us ivf patients.

Hi,

I took a pregnancy test that my husband didn't believe one week after my expected period. They did blood work that day. Then, 3 days later, and then a couple days after that. My drs were worried at first, but they said as long as it keeps going up, then that is a positive! When is your next test?

I just got a naturally on Tuesday (the day of my expected period) with a HCG quant of 103 today, so 2/3 days after my expected period. I was worried that was low, but the nurse said at this point, there is such a range that they were not worried. They don't want to do more blood work and they won't see me until June 20th...week 8 mainly because I don't have a history of miscarriage or any complications. Do you have a history of any complications?

I hope this gives you a little hope. I was a nervous wreck...they sent me home from work because I was crying so hard!!! I will and that it is all good for you!!

Let me know how things are!
