Causes of m/c

Hi,

I m/c at 8 weeks. An u/s confirmed that my baby girl had no heartbeat and had stopped growing.

Today I got back the results of the genetic testing: NORMAL.

Please help me with your experiences and/or information:

What other causes contribute to miscarriage in the first trimester?
What tests should I do?
If you had a loss, did you know what went wrong?

I have an appointment with RE on Thursday and I want to go prepared.

Thanks for your support!!

First off, I want to say how sorry I am for your loss. If it was "female normal" they could of taken a sample of you instead of the pregnancy tissue. Mine was female abnormal trisomy 15.

I hope you find some answers. .There are some very knowledgeable women on these boards about causes of M/C. I am sorry I am not much help.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss.
Mine was mainly because of low progesterone. The lining was so thin that it wasn't able to hold the pregnancy. I didn't have a D&C or any testing however, I know that it could be caused from a chromosone abnormality.

i wish there was some answer that i could give you. for my first miscarriage, it was normal, but i had bleeding at 6 weeks, miscarried at 8 and when they did the u/s there were so many blood clots, she wasn't even sure which one was the sack. for the second, i had a blighted ovum, which should be an abnormality but it also came back normal, i see my RE today to talk about it, i will let you know if he sheds any light on the subject, but i doubt it.

i know that it is hard to deal with but 25% of all pregnancies end in miscarriage and a lot of times they have no understanding at all, why. i hope that you get some answers

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. I had the same results when I had a m/c at 6 weeks. Normal baby girl. At the time they told me it could a lot of things and not to worry-yeah right. Well, after moving to another state and talking with my RE he explained that if it's a girl, it could have been cross contamination of tissue from me that they got the results from. Bottom line is, I never knew what caused the m/c and I am currently 19 weeks pregnant with a baby girl who seems completely normal according to all the chromosomal testing we've had done. Unfortunately, early m/cs are really common. Best of luck to you.
