HI everyone. Yeah we decided not to do shared risk, I did not think I would do it more than 2 times. And our insurance pays for some of our monitoring, so a cycle is 7000 instead of 10. So we did not think it would be worth it. We may give it some thought for next time, I may want to do it more than one more time.

Claudia you are waiting until Jan? may I ask why? I was thinking of maybe waiting a little longer. My accupuncturist said it was best to wait 3 cycles, and it would only be 2 in November. I may rethink it once I am more emotionally healed. Glad hubby is ok, does sound like a UTI or kidney stone. SOmetime the stone passes before you catch it on US.

So whats with royal jelly guys??

Erin-nice to hear that, I may consider waiting another month for some rest.

Jana-i guess it is kinda like that. I like to feel like we have some control with taking care of ourselves in the best way we can. But I know what you mean. I hate not having control but at some point I guess I have to realize I don't!

jana - that is awesome about your DH - it put a smile on my fact first thing this morning

claudia - i have one teaspoon every night before i go to bed along with the other things that i listed. i am not sure if it will help or not but sometimes i just have to do something so i feel like i am helping the whole process... it is so out of our hands that it makes it difficult

jenn - i think shared risk is such a personal thing.. and the whole process is so expensive. ...after my first miscarriage, my accupuncturists told me to wait 6 months, she thinks us americans try to rush things too much. she might be right, but i feel like i am racing against the clock...

well today starts the school year and if stress does effect reproduction... i guess i just have to leave it up to fate to see if things will work. i hope that each of you have a blessed day and find somthing to smile about today

Jenn, we did Shared Risk, because our insurance pays for nothing. While we had to shell out a lot of $$ for it, it is saving us money because our insurance pays for nothing. We've done one fresh ($13000) and one frozen ($1000). It's almost paid for itself.

Jamie, how did you get 6 fresh cycles. That's great. We just have 6 cycles all together.

both clinics that we checked out that have shared risk offer the same deal - 6 fresh cycles and no limit of FETs and guaranteed a live birth- so we have done two fresh cycles because we only have two low quality frosties and plan on doing the third in september, it was a lot of money to shell out but i am so glad that we went this route because we could have only afforded one cycle at my last clinic ($15000-17000) and we paid $22000 with ICSI... if need be you can come to PA - you can always stay at my house if you don't mind dogs

Hi Ladies.

Jenn, We plan on doing our 2nd and final round of IVF maybe in November. I can't imagine doing a 3rd time and actually promised DH if he would agree to 2nd time I wouldn't ask for 3rd.

I am still waiting for beta to hit zero and see AF. I also think I want to leave open one cycle in between just to start fresh. I am hoping that puts me in November and NOT December, because then we may have to work around holiday shut down. I just hear that clock ticking down with my 40th around the corner (February, and what would have been my EDD).

I scheduled an appointment to return to accupuncture for next week so I am getting into the groove again.

Jamie and Jana, I am going to ask RE tomorrow about karyotyping. I think if it came back with abnormalities I will not do 2nd IVF and just move to adoption. I wonder if it is covered by my BCBS. I hate calling them since I never get an answer because we are asking about tests that are not in the norm.

Jana, I am laughing my a.. off about DH's PHD in meat science. Are you making that up??? LOL!!!

Claudia, my DH only has stage fright issues. The day of performance, he always wigs out.

historyteach-yeah I will be 34 in Dec, so I know what you mean. I know it is not old, but everything gets harder after 35 statistically. And all this fertility stuff is sucking the youth out of me and 6 fresh cycles, that is a great deal!!

missy-you already decided only 2. You don't have to tell me but how did you decide that. It is such a hard decision and I wondering how many myself. I went back to accupuncture yesterday and it helped tremendously! I almost feel human today!

FYI-our shared risk was 3fresh 3 frozen and was like 21000, so we figured at 7000(with my insurance paying for some, otherwise it would be 10000) a pop, we will break even at 3, so only would get a bargain if we had some frosties-but don't have any at this time.

So now I am trying to lose the 6lbs I gained. get back in shape, get healthy emotionally and will try again in NOV or maybe december if I listen to my accupuncturist. But not even AF yet, and still spotting from D and C. BLah!

Hello,

I hope everybody is doing fine.

Stress: I had always been the type of person that does so many things in one day. My schedule was always hectic. Well, a year and a half ago I decided to change that. So, for example, I choose and prioritize my activities. Yesterday, because of DH's short-notice doctor's appointment, I had to change my work schedule. We had a dinner with some friends for 9 pm... I chose not to go and just chillax at home. It felt so good! Another example: I really try not to get upset and most of all, do not stay hooked up on the event.... just let it go. I think it has helped me a lot.

Jen, I believe that if my body-mind-spirit are in balance I would probably have more success in IVF and handle the outcome. If positive, not getting crazy waiting for betas, u/s, hb, etc. If negative, not loosing my mind. Having said that, DH won't do any treatment until he sees me completely recovered in that sense. My RE in Peru told me to wait 3 months but before do all the tests (that will be October). I suppose AF will show up in ten days. Then, I will get the auto-inmune tests done; wait for the results.... Mid/late september. By then we will have to make some decisions, if it was genetic, then as both REs said "bad luck". If they find some auto-inmune condition, start treating it.

The busiest time at my job is Mid November-Mid January.... there is no way I would be comfortable doing IVF during that time. DH and I are going back to Peru for IVF and ICSI. I have to take at least 3-4 weeks off.

Jaime, what's RPL? I don't know your age, but seeing your picture I think you are still quite young.

Jana, I loved your DH's PhD!

Missy, accupuncture was so great. Every time I went in, I took 30 minute naps and then I got this great massage.

I have to run to work.... I will come back later!
Royal jelly: I have read in this forum that it improves the egg quality and sperm. I will get some this week.

Melissa,

I know........who gets a Ph.D. in meat science? But it's true. He is actually working with a pharmaceutical company creating products that can be used in the ag industry on animals for safety reasons. He's my little scientist.

Well, I'm off to tutor.........yuk!!! Catch up with you all later.

RPL - recurrent pregnancy loss, that is the only thing i have because they can't find a **** thing else wrong with me or DH. i just got a call from my nurse today and our karotype is normal, so we are going to try one more cycle... which has been pushed back to ocotber to ensure that i am healthy... and then if we have the same results we will then do PGD... i just don't have the $5000 to shell out right now for the testing and since we have had so few embryos make it to blasts, i am not sure if it would be worth it

missy - good luck with the appointment tomorrow, and i hope that your beta hits zero soon

jana - you have an appointment tomorrow too? good luck and i hope tha tyou get some answers and an idea what your next steps will be

jenn - sorry that you are still bleeding from your procedure.. i am so sorry i forget how long ago you had it done... are you past the week/two week time frame? just wondering because i was done in approx 6 days after the procedure... i guess everyone is different. i hope that today was one of your good days!!!

well today for me rather sucked, prior to 8 am i had at least 6 different co-workers ask me if i had any news... i know that they just want to support me but it was a rather hard day and then to find out that i got pushed back another cyle... it was a little too much today so i had a glass of wine when i got home and now i am thinking i might just need a second one

many blessings to all and i pray that we all find peace in our journey

Jamie and anyone else interested, I posted a question about PGD, and a few ladies replied to it. Thought you might like to read it. Questions about PGD testing???????

Question: Is it too early for me to be getting AF (D&C was last Thurs). I've had spotting off and on (mostly on) since, but today I'm having alot of back pain and cramping with more of a flow and clots. Just not sure if this is still the side effects of m/c.

Jana, that is exactly how it was for me. First two days no bleeding, but after that the flow started. It lasted one week. And the cramping was very intense. Try to take some Advil.

jana - i think that would be a side effect of the miscarriage because you shouldn't get AF until 4-6 weeks after the procedure...
thanks for the link to the PGD.. i have read what the others have said, and it is encouraging, but i just don't think that i am ready to take that step yet.

good luck with your appointment tomorrow!!!

jana- mine is similar. one week of almost no bleeding then is started, I am on week 2 still spotting. Your HCG has to be zero before AF, it takes awhile- usually 3-6 weeks I believe.

claudia-I am with you. I am leaning more and more toward waiting a little longer. I am putting things in perspective. I actually went back to the March expecting thread and read everyones signature. I realized how much all those ladies went through-multiple IVF, IUI ect to get to where they are. Who am I to think it will happen for me on the first try?? It really put things in perspective for me. THey are all doing well by the way! ANd remind me what your connection to peru is. Are you from there originally?
So now I understand why you are waiting, makes sense.

Historyteach-that is crazy they have no idea what is causing your RPL. That must be the most frustrating thing of all!

Jenn, We are at 2 max because I told DH I will only do it 1 time. And now that we did it once and we got pregnant (although that didn't last) I want to try again. I had to swear not to go for 3 for him to agree to this second time. We are out of pocket and he thinks that adoption is a better use of the money.

Jamie -- that's great news about your normal karyotyping. Did your insurance pay for it? If not, can I ask how much? Also, I hate it when everyone asks for news. I know they don't mean to drive me crazy, but when it's bad news, it stinks!

Jana -- I am no expert because this is my first (and hopefully last) D&C, but I think you are just spotting from the D&C. I spotted on and off for about 3 weeks after my D&C. I was told you won't get AF until your beta is zero again (like Jenn said). Oh . . . do they call your DH "Dr. Meat"?

Claudia -- Is IVF cheaper in Peru? And I am with you on the waiting. I want an off cycle before doing an IVF cycle.

Also, my RE has said what Jamie has said about the PGD -- that it's not worth the money unless you have a specific defect you are looking for because they don't test for everything. It could come back fine for what they test for and then the baby could have something anyway they didn't test for. I will go check out what others said though. Thanks for the link.

Does anyone take the herbs from their accupuncturist? When I called to schedule she mentioned since I am a few months away from IVF, maybe I should do herbs.

Good night ladies. I am watching the diving on the Olympics. I am trying to stay up to watch the Vollyball, but why do they have to schedule that for 11pm????? Ugh.

Melissa, do you go by Missy? DH always jokes around that I should call him Dr. Good Meat. Such a man.

Jamie, sorry about all the questions today. Could you email all of those people and let them know what's happened and that at this point you really aren't ready to discuss it?

My neighbor left a card and a cd on my doorstep today. The cd is full of fun and happy songs. It meant so much to me.

I figured the spotting and cramping was due to the DC, but I wasn't sure about all the clots.
