I just came back from work. I walked one mile and it felt so good. It is a nice night.

Jen, I love your perpective. I really believe that IVF as a method worked for us, but it was bad luck. Both REs have insisted on this; that the chances of having a m/c because of genetic factors could happen years ago too.

I am from Lima, Peru. We came to US 7 years ago to get our masters degrees. We studied in Ann Arbor for a couple of years and then moved to Los Angeles. We opened a business with a group of classmates.

Missy, yes, IVF is cheaper in Peru. In June, I had: bw, u/s, histerescopy, ER, ZIFT and ET for $5,000. We paid everything with our own money. Besides the $$, and it is not because is my country, the care and dedication we got from my RE and his staff (his dad was my mom's OBGYN and delivered me; he was my OBGYN before coming to US) is AMAZING. He answers his cellphone (yes!) every time I have called him, including weekends and late nights.

Jana, calling your DH "Dr. Good Meat" is too cute!!

Jaime, I hope you are doing great and each day you are getting closer to your BFP.

As for putting a face to all those questions/interrogatories, and the fear of being analyzed and/or patronized, I got a lesson 2 nights ago. I was watching the Olympics. It was the Gymnatics competion. They were doing Floor (sorry, I don't know the exact name). Well there was a tie and because of the rules, Nastia Liukin (US) got the silver medal instead of gold. You could see she was pretty upset about the judge's decision and rules, but putting her best face she went out there to the medal ceremony and congratulated the chinese gymnast that won the gold.

I thougt: What a great lesson! I can handle those questions and comments about pregnancy. Since TTC and all the failures, I have avoided, hided from some friends. It was mostly because I felt defeated on "the making of family". At my age, every time you run into a friend the "how many kids question" arises. I won't hide anymore I will put my best face and give the possible best answer.

Some of my friends that knew I got pregnant after IVF, have also learned that I m/c (through other friends). Once I felt better I have called them and they were very supportive and told me they did not want to bother me in those days. Just some people do not know what to say (specially in the distance).

Now that $$ was mentioned.... Did you pay for auto-inmune testing? My insurance will cover 50%. I just want to calculate the magnitude of the damage.

Good night for everyone!!

Claudia,

I did the AI testing. It cost us right at $1000 and insurance paid nothing. That's great that yours pays half. I ended up having one test repeated and now I'm on Heparin as a precaution.

Missy, they never grow up, but I do enjoy his humor. He keeps me laughing through it all.

Off to get ready to head to the RE. I'm so nervous and don't know why. They are just doing a follow up and setting the stage for the next cycle.

Well, the appt. went well today. I took in a list of questions and the RE was great about answering them as much as needed. We did the karyotyping (find out in 4 wks.) and are electing to do PGD if we have enough embryos. Our next ET looks like 10/30 with ER on 11/4. I'm glad to have the next month or so to exercise and feel better.

Have you guys ever been tested to see if your Folic Acid is good? She called it some sort of fasting test.

Hello

Hi Girls,

I have no clue what all this testing is, but the shadygrove.com is my center. They are excellent. I got good news today...my HCG is at ZERO!!!! I did get AF and it was not as bad as I had prepared myself for...it was very little flow and clotty (I know TMI)

Jana, I should be right there with you for my next cycle. I will start BC the start of my next period...so about 26 days!

I hope you are all doing well. I have to look into all this testing stuff...I am intriqued!

Talk to you later,

Erin

Hi Ladies,

Do you mind if I join? My name is Kelly and I had a m/c on July 9th. It was my first IUI and we were really surprised (but ecstatic) that it had worked. I started cramping and spotting as soon as I got pregnant and the RE said it was nothing to worry about. About 2 weeks later I awoke with terrible pains. I went to the RE the same day and my beta was dropping. About a week later I started bleeding and that was that.

Here it is almost 6 weeks later, no and I'm waiting to possibly start more treatments. I've been reading the "Due Date Buddy" board that I was on when I was pregnant but haven't had anything to post. It's great to have other ladies to talk to that have been through the same thing.

If you don't mind sharing, how long did it take for to come back? I'm starting to get worried.

Thanks for listening!

=) Kelly

starfish!

I took me one week when we knew something was wrong and it has been 2 and half weeks since D and C. So total 3.5 weeks. I know everyone is different and if you had it happen naturally maybe the process takes longer. But my doc did say if I did not start in 6 weeks to give them a call. Hope this helps.

Claudia-you made me crack up. we are so crazy getting excited about our . Any normal person would want us commited!!

wine sounds great! CHEERS!

welcome starfish 0- sorry that you had to come here but i hope that you find the support that you are looking for. i am uncertain when it comes to a natural miscarriage, i had a D&E with both of mine. as for stalking the site of when you are due, i know that all to well. but i found it better for me emotionally to avoid it, but make sure that you do whatever makes you more at peace with what happened. i hope that each day that passes the pain becomes a little bit more bareable and that you feel more like yourself

jana - thanks for the site, that was the other clinic that i was going to go to but it was father away... i talked with the nurse today and she said the embryologist said that we would be really great canidates for PGD, but due to our lack of funds, i think that we are going to try again without it in October and if i miscarry again or if it doesn't work than we are going to do it in January when we have more cash

Erin - congrats on making it to zero, that is freaking amazing

missy - i tried the herbs from my accupunctrist, ONCE AND ONLY ONCE!!! she is actually a medical doctor straight out of china and lets just say i would rather eat the rear end out of an elephant than drink her brew again but if you can handle the tasts, you have to figure that chinese herbs have been working for hundreds of years so they can work wonders on us...good luck

Erin & Jana - i think that we are goign to be cyclign pretty close to one another. i am scheduled to have my ER aroudn 10/22, it is going to be wonderful to go thru this whole rollar coaster with you

claudia, jenn & everyone else - cheers!!! i will clink my glass with all of you!!!

Kelly and sorry that you are joining us.
Jenn, glad you are feeling more like yourself.

Erin, wow, that's cool that you are at Shady Grove. She mentioned that they had a lot of info on their site for us to read and understand better.

Jamie, did you make it through another day of school?

My RE told me that I don't have to wait for AF. She said that since my periods are so vicious and never on time, she doesn't mind me starting them today. Yea!!!! She said that if you have irregular AF, it could be anywhere from 3 to 12 weeks before you she her ugly face.

I bought some wine couple of days ago, and boy did it help me get a good night sleep. I never heard DH get up this morning. May have to open the Relax tonight.

Welcome Kelly!! As Jana said, this is "our healing place".

My RE said AF should take 4 to 6 weeks after D&C. Right now I am taking Estradiol and Progesterone. I hope AF shows up next week.

Yes, Jen, it is funny how we cheer this time for AF! I was chatting with my cousin and she said: "I thought I would never said this but, I hope your period comes soon". LOL!

Jana, so just to understand you... what did you start yesterday? BCPs?

Jaime, with the "rear end...." I almost spilled my water over the keyboard!!

I hope you all have a great day!!
