What's the next step?

I am 29 yrs old and have had 3 m/c's. The first we dont know why i lost it. The second was called a Blight pregnancy, and the third one was in october and we dont know why i lost that one either. I have had hormone testing, metabolic testing, and ultra sounds. On paper i am perfectly capible of getting and staying pregnant but i dont. My Dr. said the next step is to either do a Kayro type test or to wait for my next m/c and test the tissue for abnormalities. I dont know how many more m/c i can emotionally take. If any one has any advice i would be very happy to hear it.

Wow, I'm so sorry you're having to go through all of this, I know it sucks! My advice would be to not do any testing and go straight to IVF with PGD if possible. Regardless of what tests they run on you or a fetus, they can't do anything to fix genetic disorders so I wouldn't think it would be worth the money(typically insurance doesn't pay for these tests.). Some people do it for peace of mind. As for me, if I have one more m/c this will be my plan. I've already been tested for everything so I'll I can do is move on to IVF and pray one day it will all work out. Huge cyber hug to you

Thankyou so much for your support. I have been going through this pretty much alone since none of my family or friends has had the luck i do. Most if not all the women in my family are so fertile it some times makes me feel like there is something wrong with me. I have been doing natural family planning lately but the PA i work for is concerned that my basil temps are not getting any higher then 97.7 and my lowest was 96.3. Mike wants to wait untill this summer to see if we are able to make a baby and have it stick on our own before we do anything eles. He tries but he doesnt get it and does not understand the pain every month when i get my period. Oh well, all we can do is keep tring. Thankyou again Worlds Greatest Aunt for writing me.

I'm very sorry

Jamie,

I'm sorry to hear about your 3 miscarriages. I encourage you to keep trying, whether it be naturally or IVF or whatever you choose. I did IVF and I got pregnant. However, today I am going to take a medication to miscarry it because it is just an empty sac. We are going to try naturally for a little while. Apparently empty sacs are common with IVF (I didn't know this). I hope we both get pregnant and it sticks and grows all the way.

If you need any emotional support you are welcome to PM me anytime.

I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriages. I too have had three straight miscarriages, so I completely understand your feelings. Our third miscarriage was after an IVF cylce and the baby had a genetic disorder. My IVF doctor just thinks I have had really bad luck. My dh and I both had our Karyotype done to check for anything we could be passing to our babies genetically; we are both fine. I am telling you this because after you have had many miscarriages, insurance companies typically will pay for the testing. I would certainly look into it, so you can make decisions based on facts.

I also believe if your dream is to conceive your own children, then keep trying. You will be a mom soon. keep the faith and know there are many supporters on this board.

Sometimes a low body temp. can be a thyroid problem. When I was being tested my thyriod would go in one test and down in another... It ended up I have PCOS... Which you would need to take metformin or you would possibly lose your pregnacies. Just a thought... Maybe something to ask about!

Are you seeing a fertility specialist? If you are not - you may want to do that. I'm wondering if you are producing enough progesterone. I am on progesterone after my IUIs because mine is low.

Good luck. I am so deeply sorry for your losses.

Thankyou everyone for your support. I am so glad i have found you all.

Dear Grumpy. My second MC was an empty sac as well. This was not with IVF. I guess it is called a Blight pregnancy. It is horrible. I was on progestrone, i think thats what it was called to stop and chance of MC before we found out. I actuall had gone for my ultrasound to hear my babys first heart beat. The radiologist's face said it all when i didnt hear anything. The next day at my Dr.'s he told me what was wrong and with in 3 hours i started to MC. I ended up having to have a D/C to help my body out. I couldnt even breath on the ride home from the ultrasound that day i was crying so hard because i knew the out come, and i was right. I hope the next pregnancy ends in a happy healthy baby.

best wishes..

jamie
