Lost our 2 angels at 20 weeks

Sadly the entire pregnancy was a rollercoaster of emotions, mostly bad. It all started with quads. We were terrified, but ecstatic. However, we lost the first 2 babies in the first trimester weeks apart. The first month of the second trimester went smoothly and I finally felt some sense of security. Obviously that did not last long. At 18 weeks I noticed fluid leakage and went to the hospital at my doctor's instruction. There we found that one of the amniotic sacs had broken. I was not in labor at that time so I was put on strict bedrest to try and hold off until at least 23 weeks. On Monday January 5th I woke up having contractions. I went to the hospital and ended up laboring for about 30 hours before giving birth on Tuesday. We had a little girl and boy. Alexandra was the one whose water broke and had held on for that two weeks, but the day before I went into labor her cord had come down cutting off her blood supply so she was stillborn. Austin was with us for 35 minutes before his little heart stopped.

So, that is my story but I do have a couple of questions for others who have endured loss.

I know emotionally it will be up to us, but how long did your doctor require you wait physically before trying again?
I am under the impression that I will be ready to try again well before my husband is. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you and your Dh resolve it?(I wouldn't/couldn't before he is ready too, but I know that I don't want to wait forever considering it took us a year to get pregnant.)

Fisrt of all I'm so sorry for your loss. As for your ? MY dr wanted me to wait six months after I lost my triplets at 23 weeks. But that didnt happen I got pregnant on my own 3 months after the trio. I was taking chaste berry droplets to regulate my cycles. Take your time.

Jenn, I am very sorry! Please take time to heal and be with DH. I believe REs want you to rest 2 cycles. But, they all have their own opinions. Personally, I believe that 3 months is OK.

I'm very sorry for your loss. I lost twin girls at 20 weeks in October 2007. At that time, both the OB and the RE insisted we wait a minimum of 6 months to try again. Your body just delivered so it needs time to regulate and return to normal.

We waited the full 6 months before trying again and I'm glad we followed the doc's advice. It gave DH and I time to mourn our losses and regroup. We also went on vacation a few months after our loss, just to do something fun and not think about babies for a while. I'm glad we did all of that before we tried again.

Sweetie, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know this isn't exactly the same, but when I had my ectopic I was ready to try again before my Dh. Physically I had to wait at least 2 cycles (6 weeks +) because I had methotrexate as well as a lap/tube removal for the rupture. Since you delivered, you will probably be advised to wait at least the same just to let your body heal. By the end of my 2nd cycle, Dh and I talked about our loss, my emotions where healing and so where his. My Dh's first concern (as I am sure is the same for yours) was for me to heal. When he saw that, and felt my need to move on, he became ready too. The important thing is to talk about your physical and emotional states together, bond as a couple even more fully to pull through this, and I promise you that you both will sync to move on together.
I was very much like you... I woke from surgery, met with my Dr. for the first time and inquired about my other tube and when I could try again.

Take care of yourself. Heal inside and out.
