Heart is Broken

Well, my worst nightmare came true. Started spotting last night with minor cramping so I called my sister (she is a nurse in the ER at a local hospital). She advised us to come in to get an u/s just to ease our minds so we could sleep. We all thought everything would be okay. After waiting about 3 hours, went to have an u/s an there was nothing there- just the amniotic sac. I knew as soon as I saw it - and the tech wasn't saying a word so I knew. Then she said - did you see a fetal pole and yolk sac last u/s? And I said yes - we saw the heartbeat, and she said nothing. Then it was confirmed by the doctor. It was a rough night for DH and I. We got home around 4:00 am and got a few hours of sleep, but not much. We are coping, with the help of family and friends, but it is so hard. The tears just don't stop. I called my RE and they advised me to keep my appt tomorrow with my OB and to keep them updated and then go from there. Hoping everything passes naturally. And everyone knew about the pregnancy - work, family, friends. That's going to be the hardest part for me - having to tell a million people. I pray that I have the strength to get through this.

Jeannie, I am so sorry to see this news. Sorry to hear that you has lost your baby and that your hearts are breaking. A loss is never easy but I do think it's harder (because I've been there too) when so many others know about it. Words just can't express how deeply sorry I am for you and your husband. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh Hon, I know exactly how you feel we were 8weeks 3 days along when we lost our little bean from IVF, it was the worst feeling and the most horrible part was that we told so many people and than had to untell them. I took a week off work because I could not face it. It does get better but it takes time. I still think about that little bean. The other day I was looking at the ultrasounds from that pregnancy! So sorry!

Jeannie,
I am so sorry about your loss. Right now I will pray for you and DH to get through this time. Please take care of yourself right now. So many wonderful and kind ladies have expereinced this hell you are in right now. You are not alone. Any time you need talk, cry, vent, whatever, I am here. The un-telling is horrible to go through. I found that doing it all now and having family or DH make those calls was best for us. You and DH are in my thoughts. Hugs!

Thank you all for your support. It makes me feel a little better knowing that you all have been through this and you understand how I am feeling. I think it will just take time to get past this and getting right back into the swing of things. Something that is bothering me though - when I went to the ER the radiologist put in his report that I had a blighted ovum - but we saw the heartbeat at 6w4d so how could that be?? I just wish we could get some answers. I am calling my RE tomorrow with the results from my OB appt today, and I guess we will go from there. Just don't know if I am strong enough to go through this again - but we have to try. Thanks again to everyone.

Jeannie,

I hope you get some answers from the RE. I thought a blighted ovum was when the baby does not develop at all. So to see a baby w/ hb at 6w4d would just suggest a m/c. I went through this with my current pregnancy. We went in at 6w1d saw baby w/ hb. Went back at 7w1d, the PA that did my scan said the sac was empty. I asked if there was a term for this and she said it was not a blighted ovum since we had somthing there before. It was just considered a missed m/c as the baby had been reabsorbed. We went back 3 days later for a repeat scan right before the d&c and sure enough, the baby was there. The PA had not done the scan correctly and misdiagnosed. I dont know how common that is to have happen to someone but I hope they are doing a repeat u/s just to be sure. and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Tuscansam,
So sorry to hear of your loss too. It really breaks my heart for anyone to have to go through this. If either of you ever want to talk....I am here.
