Hey, don't worry about the test. Take a motrin 1 hour before going in and try to relax.
When I had this test done, I didn't really feel any type of pain. I felt a little cramping like period cramps but I also was fortunate enough that I didn't have any blockage. I think everyone feels pain differently. The procedure itself only lasts about 5- 7 mins. And its actually quite interesting to see the dye go through your tubes. I hope this helps, and good luck to you.

thank you for that. With all that we are doing you never know what it is going to be like and I hear a little painful and think the worst. I will take a motrin and "chill" as my mother has told me all the timed.
Were you told to have someone drive you home from where you had it done or did you drive yourself? Last edited by meremere : 05-20-2006 at 11:33 AM. |

My husband and I both worked the morning and met at the hospital when it was time. I was able to drive home and I also could of went back to work after but I took the rest of the day off because I wanted to.
I forgot to tell you bring a pad with you and try to drink lots of water. If you decide to go home after take a warm relaxing bath as it will help relieve any cramps you may have and it will help draw out the dye faster. Good luck and remember this gets you one step further to achiving your goal.

Meremere,
I'm claustrophobic, too, and I didn't have any problems. They put you on the big steel table they usually use for x-rays, and the head of the machine is only about 2' X 2', and swivels on an arm above you, so you don't have to worry about that, either. They'll have a monitor in there so the doctor can see how the dye is going in, and it's where you can see it, too, so I found I was pretty distracted watching everything. The clamp they put on your cervix hurts a bit, and that's the main source of pain. One of the other members of the forum's doctor injected her cervix to numb it, but from what I gather most doctors don't do this, and I think that's a blessing, because the needle would hurt worse than the clamp does. Anyway, I had a blockage, so I spent a little more time on the table, but it didn't really hurt more than the other tube. And my doc used red dye, which kind of freaked me out because I thought I was bleeding, so just a heads up. But I could drive and everything afterward. I wouldn't necessarily recommend going back to work if you spend time on your feet, but if you sit, you'll be fine. |

Mine hurt quite a bit actually, but when my cousin had it done it didn't bother her at all.

So far, no children. And I've never been pregnant, so no miscarriages. But I'm right now being treated for a luteal phase defect (start injectables next month) so keep watching to see how that goes.
