Oh Hon- I am so sorry that you are going though this. I didn't know!
I don't think clomid in itself causes m/c. I have heard of clomid causing too many follies, and some may become cysts. I have had 2 m/c's, 1 on clomid, 1 not on clomid (natural cycle). Have you had b/w done to make sure your progesterone levels were normal? Have you and DH had karyotyping done? There could be many reasons for the m/cs. You should probably have a full work up with your doctor. After my second, they did the immunological work up and karyotyping and thyroid tests. Again, I am sorry this has happened. ![]()

Thanks Jen!! I don't know why but I just feel the clomid is at fault....I feel like it wrecked my lining and made it so thin it couldn't support anything.(it's probably me looking for something to blame other then myself!) But we are definately going to push for all the testing necessary. The thing that really sucks is that we cancelled our appt we waited four months for to meet a doc for IUI because we were pregnant, that appt is tomorrow and now we can't go to it!
I had a feeling we should have never cancelled it but we did and there is nothing we can do. Except I had a friend tell me that they went straight to IVF because the meds support the lining alot more and if it's nothing more then lining issues then that may be what we do as well. |

Shawna, what happened? I miss a full day and log on to this news. I'm so sorry. I don't think there is any correlation between clomid and miscarriage as I know many people who have successful conceived and delivered healthy babies after taking clomid. I wonder if they need to check your progesterone, if there is a deficiency the extra progesterone can help boost your lining. Maybe another route to take after this second miscarriage is some chromosomal testing for both you and your husband, it's worth a shot if it helps shed light on the subject. Also things like thyroid and immune testing. Shawna, I'm so sorry honey. Let me know if you need anything.

Shawna- it is not your fault. Don't think that! But you really need to have testing done on both you and DH to find out what is going on. It may be something simple as needing extra vitamins, progesterone, baby aspirin, etc. When do you go back to your Dr?

Thanks Amy, Jen and Jen! I will call the clinic tomorrow and find out when we can get in to see them and what testing we can start on. I worry that since I didn't go to the hospital during all this that they may tell me they can't really start testing but I won't take that! I want the testing and I want it now! For peace of mind mostly, but also because we really NEED to know if it's something more. I feel so numb today. I just feel...blah! I can't believe it happened twice. I felt so, in shock when we miscarried the first time and I thought stupidly it couldn't happen again! And it has....why? It's all I can ask! My friends have been wonderful support to me this time around..they have been amazing and having you ladies, I can't even begin to express how thankful I am to have such kind and caring ladies around me!! Thank you all so much! I will definately keep you all updated on everything!! Thanks for all your kind words and thoughts! ![]() |

Just wanted to give a quick update. My beta numbers were 34 last week and my doctor figures it is a chemical pregnancy. So i guess it's back to the clinic. I will still be adamant about testing though! I don't want to go through this again!!!

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this again...what a nightmare!!! I would like to think that there is not a link between clomid & miscarriage...at least I was not warned of any. I love that you named your angel babies....bean & peanut. I had a mc on 12/23/02 & named that angel baby Holly....it somehow made me feel better. Please take care of yourself.

Well my OB GYN said the closest correlation is that the lining of the uterus is not up to par and there for the poor little embryo has nothing to hold onto, there for causing a miscarriage in the long run. I personally will never take clomid again...not even coupled with other meds to support my lining. My clomid ship has sailed.....and sunk! QUICKLY! But not quick enough! He said I should have been having ultra sounds every month for folicular count and lining measurement...my clinic told me to ask for one from my OB on the last cycle but then I learned I was pregnant and figured whatever it didn't matter! I guess it did and I am feeling so stupid, but there was probably not much that could have been done for this baby!
![]() Does anyone know, I forgot to ask, if like a miscarriage I have to wait two or three cycles before starting to try again? TIA!! |

I was instructed to wait until my beta hit zero and then wait for the next AF to show up. That would be the first full cycle after miscarriage. However, since I had the methotrexate injection it was three months or three cycles - whichever came first.

But what I'm wondering is if there is a difference between a chemical pregnancy and a miscarriage? I woudln't think so but then I have no clue, lol and that's why I'm asking. I have been feeling oddly too up beat today, I don't think things are really setting in yet.

I am so sorry for your loss. Know that you are in my prayers. When I had a chemical pregnancy my OB insturcted us to wait 3 months before trying again.

Thanks Katrina!!
We also have a doctors appt with OB GYN on wednesday so I'll clear that up....then we have an appt with the RE on July 30th. And we'll find out where we go from here. ![]() |

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this again. A chemical pregnancy is simply a very early m/c. My RE told me to wait one full cycle before trying again since my beta was back to 0 only a couple of weeks after the m/c. Good luck to you and take care of yourself.
