Jen, sorry about the 'if'. I just meant that if it happened this very next cycle while the relic was there. Usually you only get to keep them for a brief period. How long will you have them?
Faith- "being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" Hebrews 11:1
You said; "WHEN I get pg (not if!) I not sure what I will feel about the relic. Right now, I feel that it gives me a bit of hope. And that is a good thing, so I just don't know. I guess I am confused by faith, but doing what I can to keep on going..." I do not think you are confused by faith, you have plenty of it.

I know what you meant (When, not If!!!). Just needed it out there!!! That was weird. I went to space, and this posted 2x!!! I wasn't finished!

I don't think I have to give the stuff back. I got an envelope in the mail from that church in New Jersey with the hankerchief, medallion, and some prayer stuff. I bought a chain for the medallion/charm, and keep the hankie next to the bed. Wasn't sure what I was suppoed to do with it. I guess once it works for me, I will see if anyone else would like it (yes, including the necklace, which I had to buy a gold chain cause the charm is gold and all I have is white gold stuff). But anyone can get the same stuff. You just call or email the church (the link is on this post from yesterday)...I recommend emailing, cause it took 2-3 days after DH emailed them for me to get the stuff, but he called 2 months ago!!! So, if the stuff works for me, I will pass it on so maybe it will work for someone else (it would have already proved itsself, right?)

I don't know so much about having faith, but I am starting to believe in stuff like the power of positive thinking, and maybe even prayers. I know when someone here asks for prayers or positive thoughts, I keep them in mind, positively, and while it might not help them physically, it helps me thinking I am doing something for someone who needs it, regardless of how small a thing.

Sorry Ladies, I haven't been around too much today!

I called my grandma earlier today and was a bit upset with how she is being treated. I need to call my mom and have a chat with her. My mom lives two and a half hours away from Granny, her sisters all live right close and yet none of them seem to care that she is in need of attention. She told me today she has a psyatic (sp?) nerve in her leg bothering her so bad it doubles her over and she can barely walk, and yet no one will drive her to the doctor or get her groceries. Granted Granny needs to be in a home but the home is full and I think it's time she moved in with someone, but everyone is pulling faces about the issue. Hell if hubby and I could, she'd be living with us now, but moving her eight hours away doesn't seem to be the solution. I just want one of my mom's sisters or my mom stand up and take charge and care for my poor Grandmother. She is 88 years old and has had some health problems as of late but continues to live alone. It scares me because none of her daughters who live CLOSE to her ever check on her. I think I will start calling to check on her every day!

Anyways, so I've been hashing out plans with DH all day, working up a good speech to give my mother so that she does something!! I hate that I have to convince my own mother to take care of her mother! Urk! How would my mom like to be treated that way long after my father is dead and gone?? GRRR!

Anyways, without further ado...my DH's Hawaiian turtle tattoo and my three nautical stars. Dh has some hairy legs man! LOL These are just after we got home and all the scabbing had gone away.

Shawna, you have just given me the most terrible guilts about my grandma. I haven't seen her in about four years, and because she is as old as your is, and can't use computers etc, I haven't spoken to her in as long a time! I'm the worlds worst granddaughter! Thankfully my sister that is in NZ (the one with the three kids) sees her all the time so I know shes looked after. However, reading you mention your grandma I know I should really try to contact her somehow. Especially since I don't know how long she has. Yikes....does anyone on here remember how to write an actual letter and post it? I MUST buy some writing paper tomorrow and try to write one. Shawna, can you please keep at me until I do? Thanks.

Oh, and I'm feeling a little down about doing an IUI with only one follicle. Are cycles like this ever successful do you think? Oh well, I guess it was inevitable, I have never taken the meds before so it was all a bit of guess work for the doctor. Hopefully next time we'll know better how my stupid slumpy ovaries work!

Brenna, I'm glad you enjoyed your pampering day. That must have been very relaxing. Also, what a pain that AF is doing her usual and not appearing when you want her. Although she did that to me too but of course as soon as I paid for the provera to bring her on she arrived a few days later. I didn't even get to finish the tablets! Will your doctor give you something to bring her on if you ask?

Alana- Do not feel badly...there have been times where I have not spoken with my grandmother for months on end, but now I am seeing she isn't doing so well and I need something to change for her! This involves waking up my mother and her sisters.

I do remember how to write a good old fashioned letter....I send them all the time! LOL. But I will definately keep on you. Every day I'll ask:

Alana, have you written your grandmother yet? I imagine she'll be thrilled to hear from you!!

Ugg! I think I'm falling apart. Now I feel like not only am I dealing with an ear infection, I mysteriously am now feeling a bladder infection come on. I hope it's not true and just my bladder being over active!!! I hate getting all these bladder infections, I can't handle them...I just want to die every time one happens!! At least I have naturopathic medications to take at home before I have to haul my butt off to the ER. I just have to hope it's my imagination though.

And hey Alana, hun it only takes one!

hello Teenca,

I have also had two miscarriages but no healthy full term pregnancies. At this point my doctor has run blood tests to check for blood clots(ing) and for genetic abnormalities. I am also on Metformin because of PCOS which could be a reason for my miscarriages. Good luck to you! And welcome!!

Alana- H E L L O!!! Me!!! Preggo with 1 follie and IUI! Remember!!!!!!!!!!!! You will get pg too, just with a better outcome!
Oh, yeah. Get some paper and write your grandma!!!

Shawna-sorry about your grandma being ill. I know that it sucks to see the ones we love ill and alone. My mom lives in Florida. Her brother, SIL, nieces and nephews live from 5 minutes to 2 hours away (I live across the country). She has had 3 different types of cancer (she is a survivor!!! cancer free from the big one, colo-rectal, for 5 years now!) and has a very bad back and neck issues, plus all the effects from chemo and radiation. No one goes to check on her. It is very hard for me-I talk to her daily. She is in the process of selling her home and when she does we will move her up here and find her a condo or townhome.

Teenca ! I too had 2 m/c's in this past year, and with my first IUI I got pg, but it was an ectopic. After my 2nd m/c they ran lots of immunological tests, such as ANA, lupus, MTHFR, antiphospholipid antibodies. They also did karyotyping on both me and DH, to check for DNA abnormalities and DNA fragmentation. DH had a SA (everything was fine). They also check your prolactin, FSH, progesterone and estridol levels. And make sure they test your THYROID...TSH levels. Very important. Many woman have thyroid issues that they don't know about and it can cause infertility issues.

Sorry you have to join us on this thread, but the good news is that ALL of us on this thread are going to be pregnant VERY soon, so if that is where you want to be, then this is a good thread for you to be on!!!

Yes Alana, it only takes one!
She will give me something to bring it on if I ask. I am sure the clinic will not miss taking my money this cycle!
I know what you mean about guilt, I have been caring for this elderly neighbor every day, and I have not even talked to my own grandmother since June.

Teenca, I am of no help, but I wanted to say hi.

Ohhh I had forgotten about all those other tests. Hey Jen, do you know why they test us for Lupus??

I'm sorry to hear your mother has had such a fight, but she is a truely amazing strong woman!! I am so thankful she is moving to be closer to you, as I know you are as well. My awesome Auntie battled cancer, but the cancer won...or rather...she won, because she was ready to go and was at peace with everything. Some days I still think I'm going to hear from her, but no such luck! I'm not sure she knew just how special she was to me! I miss her terriably! Anyways, yay Jen's mom! She is a survivor!!

Awww, thanks Shawna!

Lupus is an autoimmune disease, so another thing that can mess with fertility. Oh, I forgot to mention, they also test for blood disorders.

of course we are! Oh, btw- I like your tatoos! The turtle was pretty cool. Did DH design it himself? So, you told us what the red star indicates. What do the other 2 signify?

I can't believe how busy you've all been today!!! I had to do an open house and missed all the good catchups. OK, I have my notepad next to me, so maybe I won't miss anything... although DH is making lots of fun of me!

Shelly - I have endo and am pregnant. The doctors always told me the pregnancy will make your endo go in a bit of a remission. They're not sure why. My RE did an ultrasound of my uterus prior to IVF to make sure there were no adhesions from the endo that might cause a problem with implantation. The RE saw a "shadow" on the u/s, did surgery #4 for me, but it turns out it was nothing. It's true that the only way to diagnose endo is through surgery. I'm hoping my endo pains are less after the pregnancy and my RE recommended going back on the pill afterwards as soon as possible to keep the endo under control.

Heidi - I love the turtle necklace idea! I am definitely taking my turtles with me when the house sells. Maybe I'll have to talk DH into a turtle charm. Plus, I went to Galapagos a couple of years back so I'm very attached to the slow guys!

Shawna - I'll confess - I have a tatoo! Don't know if I have a picture of mine though. I have a tulip tatooed behind my right ear. You can't really see it unless I wear my hair up. I love your DH's tatoo! Very nice of you to check up on your Grandma today. I hope she is feeling better soon.

Alana - We'll all be eagerly awaiting the update on Tuesday now! I think you can use an HPT to see if the trigger worked right to make sure you ovulate. I've heard the ovulation kits won't work right for the triggers. And, yes, we've all heard sucess stories with the one follicle/one egg around here!

Grits - What a great day! A spa visit and a homecooked meal with wine. Yummm.....

Jen - Don't worry about the faith questions. Everyone has their own system. So, maybe it's not a Chai you're wearing (still remember those from your Jewish day?) but anything that inspires you to think positive is the important part. Your mom is quite an inspiration to all of us here. I lost my maternal grandma at a very young age to breast cancer and I miss her all the time. That's where Aiden's name comes from - she was Ann but we had to adapt for a boy.

Teenca - Welcome!! The girls here will keep you great company.
