So Jen, science question.....If I had the flu shot what are the odds of gettting the flu from dd? She is confirmed with type A flu, and has started tamiflu this evening.....do you know anything about this? Or does anyone else? April?

Brenna..the flu shot protects against 2 strains of the flu..the 2 that were predicted to be most prevalent this year..I'm not sure which ones they are this year. So yes, there is a chance you could get the flu..even though you got the shot. Hopefully you wont though!

It would depend on the strain. Flu A is more common than Flu B. Even if it was a different strain than what is in the vaccine, the vaccine should give you some immunity. Chances are if you were to get sick, it would be pretty mild.
BUT, you should still make sure you and dd wash your hands frequently, wash her clothing/bed sheets in hot water (can someone do this for you)? Just be careful. Actually April, the vaccine protects against 3 strains of the flu...2 type A, 1 type B
