YAY for baby bumps!!! Can't wait to see yours Martie!

Jen - I've been thinking about this lurker thing. If they're checking out the thread for the first time, they may be starting at page 1. If that's the case, they don't even see us saying hi! That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Well, Devan, it's borderline bumpage now... for those who don't know me, it could look like I'm just fluffy... I think part of it is because when I had surgery in '06, they had to go in through my belly button, too... so there's a good chance it won't ever pop out like a cute pregnant belly... right now it's pretty concave right there... so it looks like I'm just fat...

Hi gals. Not much going on today. I took the day off and I'm so glad I did with this head situation. I decided on Tuesday that I wasn't going in Thursday, so I must have known something.

I just killed off a bowl of pasta alfredo with mixed veges. Is there anything better than alfredo sauce. DD is eating hers with a pile of parmesan cheese on it.

I should be doing laundry, but running down three flights of stairs dragging dirty clothes sounds like it will hurt my head. Any excuse not to do it.

Hey Shelly, Amy and others with experience in the teaching arena. I am thinking of looking at placing DD in a preschool that is the Special Needs preschool program of the Public Schools in our area. "Typical children" (their words) also attend the school to serve as peer models.

I was thinking that it would be a more affordable option for us and perhaps be a good learning tool for her and teach her to accept people with disabilities or differences. I was also wondering though if this may somehow impact her learning in a disadvantageous way at all somehow? I think what I'm saying is if they are focused on those with disabilities, she might not get a chance to excel a her level?

Don't know. I never went to preschool and DH was home schooled until he was a high schooler.

Any thoughts.

Ick....

Subs in Worcester only make $70/day... if I were a long-term sub (a teacher is out for 30 days or more) they'd pay me $210/day... but so far there is no one that fits that bill... AND the guy said that because of budget cuts, a position in the fall doesn't look very promising...

So now what?

I'm not a teacher but this sounds like a really nice idea. I know growing up in NZ we had the special needs children at my school as I don't think Napier had a separate school. Anyway, I learnt early on that they were really fantastic people and I don't remember them holding any of us back. I'm not sure though when its the other way around...DD going to a a school specifically for special needs children. I do know I don't look at disabled people etc as much different from us because of having them as friends at my school. But what do I know....I just like looking at pretty furniture!!

Anyway, I wasn't around like I'd hoped I would be. I ended up having to catch up on a zillion chores I have been neglecting. I totally hear you on the avoid the laundry Heidi, which is what I've just finished doing. Ugh...boring, boring job!!

So now I'm going to make some spaghetti bolognese for dinner (I feel like something warm as its SOOOO cold out tonight) but I'm going to be off and on chatting to you all finally.

So COME BACK Devan!!! I'm here now!!

Shelly- Is Worcester the only school dept you could apply to? I once did some sub'ing in Fall River MA at a Vocational school for my stepdad and they paid $100/day for temp subs. There must be somewhere else?

Jen- Let's just say I spent the earlier part of my life trying to figure out what to do with it. this would explain why I moved to Australia, jumped out of a plane and hiked Mt Mckinley. I was a lost soul looking for my purpose. I think being a mom is my purpose and now I feel more settled waiting to do just that. At times I feel completely restless and boring-wanting to do something exciting again, but then I remember I found my purpose.

I also have one of those personalities where I cannot just choose a career and stick with it until I retire. I must try everything!
So far I have not really liked anything! I do love psychology and trying to figure out why people operate the way they do, but we'll see how much I like it when I have a bunch of crazies in my office everyday...
