It's good Martie. Except they told us teh earlier the appointment that it means something more serious. Hopefully it just means that DH complained enough and they just decided to pop him in?!

He has been complaining about pain in his parts, unfortunately. Still very tired. But I think he just wants to get this appointment over with so we can know what we're fighting. I agree. That woudl be nice. And now with having this plan for freezing two samples and having enough for something like ten IVFs from those two that's definately a bit more reassuring.

Shawna, a very good friend of mine had testicular cancer and with radiation became sterile. He had frozen samples so that if he wanted kids one day he could.

He went on to get a set of gorgeous IVF twins 8 years ago and his wife later walked out on him. He remarried two years ago and was able to have another daughter with his new wife. All with his gorgeous frozen sperm.

He has three kids, a fantastic life, and he is healthy as a horse.

Bridget - Welcome! You have had more than your share of hardships and I wish only easier times for you and your dh I haven't had a d&c before so I can't help with your question but I'm sure some of the other wonderful women here can help.

Amy - Good luck again!! I think the hangman idea is adorable. Oh, and the fb talk today is only about what you already pm'd me

Martie - I know Joy in our group had lots of sugar issues with her triplets and they were born very healthy at 34 weeks (due to other issues) and went home within a week. Aiden was born at 37 weeks and went home with me. So, just be sure to take care of yourself right now and do not blame yourself. I've had friends eat 2 cupcakes a day during pregnancy and be fine with their sugar levels and others eat only salad and have GD. It's just your body telling you it needs a little extra help. Have a wonderful time with all the relatives this weekend.

Shawna - What great news that dh is getting to see a specialist so soon. I think it's just your turn for good news - both with the early appt. and the results.

Back to boring work...

Welcome Bridget! I had the same problem after my D&C and after 6 weeks of no AF and no signs of it happening anytime soon my RE gave me some tablets to take for 10 days to bring it on. Its usually progesterone tablets like Prometrium or I think Provera. The point is to make your progesterone rise like it would with ovulation (often you won't ovulate after a D&C) so that when you stop taking them the rapid drop in progesterone will bring on AF. Just like in a natural cycle. Anyway, I'm sorry to hear about the losses you have experienced. I experienced two early ones before this pregnancy and both were very traumatic. The wonderful ladies on this thread kept me sane and got me through the tough times. I hope we can do the same for you.

Shawna, thats great about your DH. Now you can start to get some answers. I remember waiting 6 months before they did anything about my cervical pre-cancer, and it was very very high risk. So thats very good news.

I'm sitting here scoping out the real estate sites in CA. I'm also trying to figure out how to sell our house and avoid the agents commissions at the same time. No offence to our resident agent Rachael (I wish you could come sell my crackhouse hun, I hate the agents here!) but I just can't stomach forking over another $24,000 in commissions for a $480,000 house. (we handed over that much only 9 months ago with our last place) In NZ you would pay a maximum of about $5000 in commissions. So I'm looking at using a flat fee broker who will still give the 2.5% to the buying agent but will only take $2000 for themselves. Thats a $10,000 savings. What do you girls think? Have you ever used a discount realtor before? Or sold your own home? They do that in NZ and the UK. I wonder why more people don't do that here.

Alana - some of the discount brokers here do not post your home on the listing service so that is one of the complications considering 98% of all new home buyers search on the internet. Don't worry - you are absolutely not offending me! Just be sure to ask lots of questions... who will do open houses, how often, will they advertise your home, make flyers, etc. Also, I know the worst of the discount brokers here in Atlanta will not negotiate offers for their sellers. It puts us in a tricky situation b/c legally if the seller has an agent/discount broker then the buyer's agent is legally obligated to negotiate the contract through the seller's agent and is not legally allowed to directly contact the seller. Well, when the discount broker won't return our calls it's really hard b/c we could lose our real estate license if we contact the seller directly. Just make sure they will be responsive or ask specifically how the laws work in your area and make sure you have one specific person you will be working with. Wish I knew someone up there to recommend! Also, ask exactly how often they will contact you with updates and feedback from showings. If you decide to do for sale by owner, I know there are specific sites for that too in the States where you can pay to have your home posted. Typically, places like Office Depot and Staples will have real estate contracts that you could use as a fill in the blank too if the buyer did not have an agent either. Trust me, I hear the commission argument every day in my line of work and I am always having to explain exactly where our services come into play...

Josee, I don't think I could handle that right now. My hair hasn't been colored in 12 weeks and I feel like a bloated white whale. Maybe you could stand in for me??

Rachael, when you get a good agent they are worth their weight in gold. I would hire you in a second up here! I've just been so disappointed with the ones here in Toronto, they really do work only for themselves. Our first one ripped my cousin off about $3000 and to this day refuses to return any of our calls. He was fired immediately! Our last one is a really nice guy, which has my DH wanting to keep using him, however he is also a bit annoying with how much unnecessary marketing etc he insists we do. Its so long winded and pointless in this market. You could sell a house here in a day with a marker pen and piece of cardboard! Anyway, we could have sold our property on the first day of listing last year for the price we wanted...however he insisted on doing open homes anyway, at our expense of course. In the end we had over 100 people through our house and not one of them were the buyers who put in an offer. They were all just nosey neighbours who damaged the walls, dinked the fridge and lay on our bed! I was mortified. I know now he was just trying to drum up more clients for himself, which is fine...just don't do it in my house!!

All that said, I definately don't want to do FSBO, thats too much hassle. I think I might interview a few of these discount agents and ask the questions you suggested. Hey, can I put you on the phone to talk to them for me?? lol
