Confused.

After seeing a beautiful healthy bean with a perfect heartbeat at 6 weeks at my RE's office, we went in today for 1st appt with OB...I'm 9 or 10 weeks by their calculations. The OB saw no heartbeat. She did belly us and vaginal us. Still no heart beat and the baby only measured 8 weeks. She sent me to hospital for US, radiologist concurred that there was no HB. She's given me the option to take something to induce the bleeding- or to have D&C.
What I dont understand is that I still feel sick, my boobs still hurt, my belly is still bloated.
I mean, I saw it with my own eyes. The first time I saw a pattering little heartbeat but today nothing.
So why dont I feel different?
I think I"m going to call my RE's office in the morning. I love my OB but I wonder if maybe the RE's machines are better...or maybe I just need piece of mind.
Anyone still have prego symptoms after they couldnt find a heartbeat?
Should I get a second opinion, is there a chance they missed something or am I just grasping at straws.

Kimberly, I'm so sorry you are going through this. For me, it was different. At first I felt very pregnant and then one day I woke up and my symptoms were gone. I just knew. I will say however, that the pregnancy hormones remain in your body for a while and so it would be normal to still feel pregnant or have some symptoms.
I would say that you should definately go for another u/s just for peace of mind. That is one thing I regret is that although I could see with my own eyes that the little bean and sac weren't formed as they were on earlier ultrasounds, I just wish I had gone for one last look to make absolutely sure. I know my ob-gyn would never had recommended taking the medications unless she was absolutely sure, but I could have done with a second opinion.

I was given cytotec which may be what they have suggested for you. I'm not sure that I would recommend it to anyone because I had a hard time afterwards and eventually asked them for a D&C for closure.

I'm so sorry. Take your time to decide what is best for you.

Kimberly-I am sorry this has happened to you. I agree with Heidi-get that second opinion...you will regret it if you don't. For your peace of mind. And I do hope that your OB was wrong.

I'm very sorry you have to go through this. I had similar experience to Sunny 72. At about 6weeks i woke up and had no symptoms at all. My biggest concern was that my bbs stopped hurting me. Little bit before 8weeks Dr who did my u/s told me to wait cause he needed second opinion. So he went and got another Dr. Both of them told me that they didn't like what they see and send me to the 3d Dr. I was told that my pregnancy wasn't liable. Few days later i m/c naturally. The only symptom i had left was-constant hunger. It didn't go away till my hormones went down.

Kimberly - I'm so so sorry that this is happening. You should definitely get a second opinion if you feel you need it. Especially if you have a sense of trust with your RE. When I had my first miscarriage, I had the dr do a second u/s 3 days after we found no heartbeat. He again didn't find one, but I needed to be reassured that he knew what he was doing. Of course, he did. It was still devastating, but having the second u/s brought me a good deal of peace.

When I miscarried, I did still feel pregnant. I even had some nausea and sore bbs a few days after the d&c. But my hormone levels stayed pretty high for a while. My thoughts are with you. -Bethany

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. I had a very similiar experience. The night before my ultrasound I threw up twice, more than I had any other day during my pregnancy. We had already seen a heartbeat, so we were shocked to find out it had stopped. I scheduled a D&C for the next day. I couldn't stand feeling pregnant, when I knew I wasn't. Defintely get the second opinion if it will give you peace of mind. I opted not to get a second ultrasound, I didn't want to see it on the screen again. The tech had seen it and the doctor confirmed it, plus we could see it too. I felt like that was enough torture for one day. It was too sad for me to see it again. Do whatever your heart is telling you. It's your body and your baby. I'm thinking of you today.

Thanks all. The last five days feel like a blur. I did end up calling my RE. Thankfully his practice is in the same hosptial where I had the 2nd US, so he was able to look at the films and concurr with the results. I was only measuring 8 weeks and I was almost 11. I started Cytotek on Wed. My Ob and RE agreed that I should avoid a D&C because of the risks of scar tissue and infections. But, after taking the cytoteck for four days now, 2 rounds of 6 doses, all I have is pain and black spotting. So it looks like I'll have to have the D&C. Its madness, losing the baby is hell enough...but to have to go through this to pass it is pure torture. The D&C is not scheduled until Wednesday...but what am I supposed to do til then. I dont feel like I should leave the house- I feel so strange knowing what is inside me. Its a horrid feeling- I want to mourn this baby but I cant until I get it out of me. Does that sound terrible?

Kimberly - I am so sorry this is happening. It is heart wrenching to miscarry and even more so after seeing a heart beat. I can't imagine how you feel and again I am so very sorry. You're in my prayers.
