I'm driving myself crazy!
I have been on Metformin for about a year, but I have never ovulated on my own. In mid-December I had my first period without having to take Provera. Excited, I took ovulation tests that started on Day 12 of my cycle. On Day 15 I got a strong positive! I waited to see if I would start a period, but I never did. I took HPT on Day 30, 35, and 40.
I feel like I'm getting symptoms. I have been nauseus, feeling tired, having breast tenderness, and I had horrible cramps around day 30. I still have not started a period. Could the ovulation test have been wrong? I'm new to this site, but I am hoping that someone could give me advice. I feel like I'm going crazy. I don't know if I should not trust the ovulation test or the HPT. Please help! |

Your story sounds similar to mine. I have been on Metformin for over a year also. I have very irregular periods and do not ovulate on my own.
Are you seeing an RE? If you are I would call him/her to set up a blood test, which is more accurate than a home test. Some women don't have enough HCG to show up on a home test until they are a week or two late. I hope that you are pregnant, but if you are not, it is still great news that you ovulated on your own! I would probably trust the ovulation predictor kit that you did ovulate. Unfortunately ovulating is only part of the battle! Hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks for your reply. I called my doctor to schedule a blood test and then af came the night before. Of course. Oh well, at least I seem to be ovulating. My husband and I had reached the point of IVF or bust with the RE. We decided against IVF for now. I had given up hope and started researching adoption when my last period came. I guess I'll just wait. Maybe it will happen naturally.
