I am so sorry you are going through this. it is so devastating to find out that our reserve is diminishing and there is really nothing you can do about it. I hope everyhting works out and you can start your meds. Please keep us posted! Good luck tomorrow!

We were thinking we were just going to go straight to IVF, but DH had great results on his SA, so we're going to do IUI most likely just with clomid, but possibly clomid + injectibles. We really want to keep the chances for multiples minimal so hopefully the less aggressive protocol will be helpful for me. We'll probably do 1-3 rounds of IUI then IVF.

I also just made an appt with an acupuncturist next week that specializes in fertility. I'm kind of excited about that.

My Dr is just having me take C and E in addition to Prenatals and DHA. I see a couple of you are taking CoQ10 and wondering if that might be good for me too. My Dr only recommended that for men with issues. I'm curious to see what herbs the acupuncturist suggests.

Hello ladies,

I am new to this specific forum. I was dianosed a year ago via lap surgery with endo stage IV. I was then referred to a RE/endo specialist. He did all of the commom fertility testing and then told me that aside from my endo I also had a high FSH which is at a 9.5. I have been seeing for a year now and all this time he kept on telling me that my best shot is IVF because of the severe endo and because my ovaries were starting to give up because of the endo. He still gives me a big hope of being able to get preganant with my own eggs. Well anyways today I had my first IUI and he told me that my specific diagnostic of why I have not been able to get preganat is because of I have "Severe Endometriosis and Low Ovarian Reserve".

Oct.08- diagnosed with Endo stage IV via lap.

Dec.08- 1st visit with RE/endo specialist, did all fertility testing including HSG and SA for DH. All clear with the exception of a elevated FSH.

Jan.09 - RE is advising us to go directly to IVF.

March 09 - RE gave us the ok to do a couple of rounds of fertility meds and IUI.

March 2009 to Sept. 2009 - Saving money for IUI and IVF it is necessary.

10/09 # 1 IUI used femara, menopur injectables and HCG trigger.

Good luck with the IUI's. I had two and they didn't work for me so I hope you have better luck! I am going to an acupucturist who specializes in fertility and she is having me take chinese herbs. She also recommended wheatgrass, fish oil, CoQ-10 and royal jelly. I have to look up DHA. Do you get it at a local pharmacy? GL

Hey Ladies,

Welcom all new ladies. DH and I made the decision this week to postpone my 3rd IVF until December. I got into a car accident back in May and have been in pain since then. DH and I feel I just need to go get the next level of treatment at this point which involves meds not good for a pregnancy. With all the stress, just makes sense to wait to get the best cycle I can get. It is killing me to wait but I'm just not in the best place and want this so bad, that I just don't have as good as a feeling as I want...And not sure if I can afford another try and it another time soon. I'm disappointed but I think it is the right decision. Two months will pass in no time!!!

So.....good luck to everyone getting started again and I hope to see some BFP's!!!!

4/08-12/09-TTC Naturally
01/09-Diagnosed with DOR (FSH as high as 36 )
04/09-IVF #1 , cycle cancelled converted to IUI (only had 1 follicle for retrieval)

05/09-06/09-TTC Naturally again
07/16/09-Start IVF #2
7/28-2 eggs fertilized.....
7/30-2 8 cells eggs transfered. 8/11-BETA
We are devastated!

Tarajean-Hang in there. I think you're right about waiting until you can take care of yourself and not have so much stress. With all the holidays coming that helped us feel better about waiting to do IVF also until Jan. Until then, hopefully we'll have some luck with IUIs.

I was diagnosed with DOR, and I'm looking for some hope. I have tried three medicated IUIs and two IVF cycles. The RE says that I might have poor egg quality because I have not responded very well to medications. The first IVF cycle I had one embryo transferred; the second cycle I had three embryos transferred, but nothing has worked. The RE mentioned estrogen priming (or the "Cornell method"). Does anyone have experience with this? Any success?

Sorry about the diagnosis. It is a tough one!!! I am doing Estogen Priming for the second time. I don't think I did too bad but it did end up in a BFN. I am on SIRM's highest protocol so I am hoping to get more and "better" eggs. My RE would like to transfer 3 or 4.
If this one fails I would like to go to Cornell. Did your RE tell you what the "Cornell Method" is all about?

Hi all, I'm 28 years old and was finally diagnosed in Aug 09 with DOR. I was previously missed diagnosed as having PCOS and being insulin resistant. My FSH level was 12, Estradiol was normal at 23, and antral follicle count was low at 9. We've done 2 cycles of IUI and are going to take a break now. I'm ready to move on to IVF, but my dh isn't ready. It's hard accepting the fact that it's my fault so to speak, so I'm with anyone else who feels the same way. Especially when my husband keeps getting told that he has "super sperm." Best of luck to all out there and if anyone has any advice, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

DH fine

Hi everyone! I'm 38 and was recently confirmed as having diminished ovarian reserve.

DH (also 38) and I have been trying to conceive naturally for over a year. This past cycle I started on Clomid 50mg and an injectable (Ovidrel). DH went last week for sperm count and haven't heard results of that yet.

My FSH was 17. And count was 0 on one side and 4 on the other. This is only going on what I overheard at ultrasound - my doctor would not give an exact count when I asked. All other tests were normal.

I was able to conceive my 2.5 year old daughter naturally 4 months after coming off birth control.

In 2005 I underwent treatment to become an egg donor. Retrieval was discontinued because I was not able to produce enough eggs (2 and 4).

So happy to have found a board where others can understand your frustration, pain and anxiety.

to our special board. Like I say to everyone, DOR is a tough diagnosis because there is not much they can do. I do want to tell you that you are still young so don't lose hope. The fact that you are young means that you should have some good quality eggs in there!! I think you should move onto IVF and not waste your money on IUI. I think you will have a great chance at success!! REmember, it only takes ONE!!!! Good Luck!!!!

I had my HSG test this week and found out my right tube is blocked! Ugh! It's also my rt ovary that just had one follicle. My Dr said we could still to the IUI and we'd just make sure the left ovary was stimulated.

I saw the acupuncturist also and I really like her. I'm going back tomorrow for stimulation with the electrodes. She's also having me drink an herbal blend. Now I'm less optomistic about this natural cycle this month since I could be ovulating on my right side this time. But I'm trying to convince myself all these treatments will help my overall health and maybe make everything optimal for my fertility.
