Hi everyone. I am also DOR...Quick Story, I am fortunate enough to have a baby 7 years ago with no fertililty issues or treatments. Unfortunately, got divorced and aged 7 years.
Got remarried, bragged at how easy it was for me to get pregnant first time, and low and behold, 7 years has made huge difference on my fertililty. I am 35..went to doctor after 8 months of trying, found out husband had low sperm count, doctor asked to check me and found out I was DOR. Based on RE's recommendation and lack of success he felt I would have with IUI due to husband's counts, we tried for IVF this month. Only produced one follicle and decided to cancel cycle since I did not want to waste all that money on IVF since it was not covered by insurance, so tried IUI.. Unfortunately. Next cycle with clinic is not until July so plan to continue Accupuncture, etc. to keep body in check. My question for group is did any of their doctors suggest HGH therapy instead of traditional treatments. I was on Gonal F (225 IU's 2 times a day) as well as menopur daily with little response. He is considering starting an HGH protocal now to see effects. Anyone ever hear anything about this? There is no much information on the intranet... For those struggling with their first pregnancy, my heart goes out to you. I know how fortunate I am to have had a child. With a new marriage, and new start after some tough years as a single mom, I was looking so forward to adding to my "new" family. My DH SOOOOO wants a child of his own so we have spent some nights heart broken at our journey so far. Hopefully we'll have success.... Last edited by tarajean : 05-08-2009 at 02:58 PM. |

Welcome!
tarajean- Welcome and I am sorry you are also going through this. It is very tough! I have never heard of HGH therapy. Can you tell us alittle about it? What did your RE say it would do for you?
I am going for my first IUI next week. Not optimistic about it but definately ! Do you know your AFC or FSH?

Good luck with your first IUI! If your husband has a strong sperm count, you should have a better chance of success. I had 1 follicle and they only had 1 1/2 million washed sperm so it would have truly been a miracle for us to get pregnant, but I was hoping for the miralce. You NEVER know and what I have learned, every body is so different.
I have been checking my AFC every month since December when we first realized and learned even what an antral follicle was. I never knew what they were but never had a thought about researching the whole conception process. I just thought, like the first time, I would go off the pill and baby would be there within a few months...WRONG.. I have had around 3 follicles every month and one time I had 6, but had a cyst. I am not sure of my FSH because I was on the pill for about 2 months before my try at IVF/IUI. It was very high in the beginning though but I can't recall. My RE said HGH is a new therapy that is supposed to help in conjunction with Gonal-F in my case. I am in Florida and my doc said more prevalent on the West Coast. I am waiting to hear more but he feels it may help the quality of my eggs since I have so few each month. I am going to be doing IVF again in July so we are going to try that combination. Hopefully I will have at least two follicles this time to work with. We decided to cancel my cycle in April and try IUI since I only had 1. DH and I just cried after our . It is hard to see a man cry. So, now I just wait until July. I'll let you know more once he gives me more info on HGH. In the meantime, I keep looking around the internet for information. |

I am so sorry for your BFN. I know how hard it must be. This is such an emotional roller coaster. I hope you get more than one follicle for our IVF. I am sure they will put you are a more agressive protocol to produce more eggs. I pray that this HGH therapy works for you! Don't give up..you WILL have a baby!! Please keep me posted!
I just went in this morning on CD7 and it looks like I have 3 follicles looking good. I just hope it stays that way! I am so nervous about this. i will update when I find out more Lysergic77- How is it going? Keeping FX for you!!

3 follicles sounds great! That is very promising.
How big are they? What day of stims are you on? When do they anticipate the HCG shot? I am just in a holding pattern now until July. I will be turning 36 this month and should be ovulating close to my b-day. Maybe I will get lucky and get pregnant naturally. I am going to just try to keep my mind off of things. My OB told me (before I started with the RE) to just go and get drunk and enjoy trying for a change. Maybe she'll be right. THAT would be the best b-day present EVER!! Let me know how your next visit goes. |

I hope you get a BIG birthday present. Did you ever try Robutussin with Guafesin in it before TTC. If you start aned take it up to 4 days before you O, it is supposed to help you get PG. I am pretty sure that is how I got DS. It can't hurt...I would try it. GL

hey guys , i had my iui 7 days back. i had three growing follicles Two were around 18mm and one was 22mm. but at the day of iui his sperm count dropped from 118 million( last time) to 14 million, which is drastic. he had flue in the begening of month and we didnt avoid intercourse this time at all, as our doctor said the going intercourse before and after iui increases your chance of concieving. I am really scared.
please any one of tell me if we did the right thing or wrong? ![]() |

Hi ladies. I am so glad I found this site! A little of my story:
I have been married 9 years in July, and we have a 5 YO son. He was concieved naturally - no big deal, it took 9 months but it happend. DH was always a little reluctant to have a second but agreed. We began TTC in Sept 2007. We worked with my OBGYN for a year and then moved on to an RE. We have had all the testing - SA, HSG, Sonohystogram, follicel count, FSH, you name it. Yesterday I was diagnosed with DOR. I am just beside myself was feeling like this was hopeless until I read the stories here. The RE wants to do IVF with "agressive" stimulation. The problem? DH is not sure he wants to do it - believes it if was meant to happen it would happen. Also, the RE's office is 2 hours from us, and it sounds like the IVF involves lots of visits. Not that I wouldn't do it for that reason - I want another child so badly I would do just about anything. So I don't know much about IVF or the drugs used in it. It sounds like I could learn a lot from the experiences here! |

Welcome Tracyhay1, I am glad you have found us. I am also in a similiar situation because I also want to have another child soo badly. I jsut had an IUI and if it doesn't work, I will have to go for IVF. DOR is the worst because it seems like there is not much they can do for us. I think IVF is the only way to go...unfortuately. You will learn alot on here but it can be pretty slow. If you have any questions, I will try and help. Why were you diagnosed with DOR? What is your FSH and how many resting follicles do you have?
Lysergic77- We are in the 2ww together. I think you follicles were good. I am sorry to hear about your DH count. I am ing it works for you!Tarajean- Thanks for cheering me on!! My beta is this Thursday. I will let you know. How are you doing? Did you try the Robutussin?

Lisa72 - Thanks for the welcome. My dad 3 FSH was 9.9. My OBGYN did the day 10 after only 50 mg of Clomid, and it was 14.6. Although my RE feels like it wasn't completely accurate being that it should have been 100 mg of Clomid, it had still gone up so he did a follicle count. That was done on day 9 of my cycle, and there were only 2 follicles on one side and none on the other. So it is not looking good for anything except IVF.
My husband is not sure he wants to do the IVF. Having a second child was always more important to me than to him. And at first, I was not in favor of IVF either - until the dr said it was really our only hope. I am pretty much willing to do anything! So we agreed to wait this cycle and then talk again. I am sorry AF showed for you - I hope you only need to endure one round of IVF! |

Getting ready to try IVF
HI everyone, I'm new to the board and have enjoyed reading everyone's stories and I am hoping you all have success soon! We are getting ready to try IVF, most likely in August. I have DOR, but my husband has no problems. We've been trying to conceive our second child for about a year now and used 5 rounds of Clomid with my OB, then switched to an RE and had one failed attempt with IUI. Have any of you used donor eggs or been advised to? My doctor said since I am young, (29) that my eggs should still be good quality even though the quantity is low. But he said he thinks they'll be able to retireve only 3-4 eggs, with hopes to implant 1-2. We're giving this 2 trys and then that is it so I want to make sure we give ourselves the best odds. Any thoughts with donor eggs?
