given me hope!

Congratulations! This gives me hope. I am 37 with my initial FSH 16 and 23 on day 5. I haven't begun treatments, but hope that IVF works for me. My doctor said i need the most aggressive treatment hopes my insurance company will approve IVF w/out IUI. He says i have a 5% change of IUI working.

This is going to be a long road, but I hope in the end I have a healthy baby.

Lysergic77-I am so sorry you got a BFN. My first IUI failed and I am going through my second. I know it is not going to work but my appt with new and current RE are this week and theny wanted to do something in the meantime. Please let me know how your appt goes tomorrow. I will let you know how mine goes .

Feff- I am going to be 37 in July. I have not done IVF yet but plan on next cycle (If IUI doesn't work). Do you know what you AFC (antral follicle count) is? My RE goes by your AFC more than your FSH. I am glad you joined us!!

doms.mom- I am also trying for my second. You are still young so don't give up on your own eggs!!! I still haven't thought of DE because I have to try my own first. If a few tries at IVF does not work I would consider it..

Hi ladies,
I'm so glad I found this thread. I have read through all your stories and they have inspired me and have given me some hope.

My story:
Went to the RE yesterday for my BW/US to get my 3rd IUI later this week. The dr came in the room which wasn't a good sign because usually the nurse takes care of everything.

She explained my ovarian reserve is rapidly decreasing. When I started my 1st IUI my level was 11, now it is 16. We are still going to have the IUI done on Wednesday and move on to IVF. I guess I will have to do IVF with DE.

I cried all day yesterday and today I'm just numb. I should have never waited so long to see a specialist.

Thanks for letting me get this out.

I'm back. Sorry Lisa IUI didn't come through in May but good luck this month! Been so busy with work haven't had a moment to get on the board. No luck with the robitussin but was worth the try. Heading to IVF again in July. Follicle counts seem to stay around 3 or 4 every month. Thank god DH wants a baby so bad. Without his support I could not do this. Plus, I can't stand needles so if I had to inject myself, I would die. This cycle RE is doing everything different. I am actually already using the estrogen patches and will be using progesterone this month to kind of boost these hormones in the body. I will not be using any lupron or bcp for suppression either. Also, going to be using HGH with my stims. Omnitrope is the exact med so hopefully it will improve my quality. Injectables start July 15th...I may try again naturally as well this month but don't want to stress over. We'll see if DH and I are in the mood those nights...

Keep me posted Lisa and good luck Tracy...Hopefully DH will come around. It is very important for him to support this for you because it is an emotional roller coaster. I had to cancel my first IVF cycle because I only ended up with one follicle and decided to save the $ for another try (my doc separates the cost out into steps in the process). So gearing up for IVF try #2....Let me know if you have any questions!

Hope

Wow, I just came across this forum and am so happy. Lots of good feedback on here.
Doctor is also telling us that we should try one more IUI and injectibles and then possible IVF again and if not do go to donor eggs. Saying my FSH is too high......it showed up as a 12 last year but since then it it around 7.8 and even 6.8 ......so much lower. But he said they always go by the worst one you had......not sure why. But I feel hopeful now after reading this forum.
I'm going to go out and buy robitussen now....lol!!

Kepola and athena3- I am glad yo have found us. DOR is so devastating. I hope your IUi's works but if you have to do IVF, don't give up on your own eggs just yet.

Tarajean- we can be cycle buddies because I am cycling at SIRM in July. I got my calendar and cried. I couldn't beleive all the meds and stims. I am completely overwhelmed. My meds cost $6,400 . Luckily, our insurance covers the meds and we have to pay only $350. They put me on an Estrogen Priming Protocol and it is supposed to give me more eggs....we will see. I went in for day 3 bloodwork and afraid to ask what my FSH level was this month. I have only had 2 done an they were 9.7 and 7.1. I have to go in on Monday for a mock transfer so I will talk to my doctor. He said my chances are 50%. We are paying for three cycles. I hope and that one of them works.
Girls- let's keep this thread going. I know it is slow but we can be eachother's support. I think we all need it!!!!!

I haven't posted here in a while because we have basically lost hope and don't have the money to do IVF or donor eggs....our insurance pays $0.

Anyhow, just a thought. When I got pregnant last time, I was on BC for 10 years. I got pregnant 3 months after going off the pill. When I asked the RE about this, he said that there was nothing scientific proof that the BC would help. I can't remember his exact words but...it was something to that effect when I asked him about going back on.

If you were in my shoes would you take the chance. I go back and forth with this. I guess a part of me feels like if why not try it and the other thinks well...maybe this month I will get that miracle.

What do you girls think?

I think you should try it. I heard you are supposed to be fertile after BCP's. I still think you should try the Robutussin. It can only help you. Don't forget it!!! LOL Good luck!!!! I am still thinking and praying for you!!!!

Lisa, so cool we'll both be on the cycle together. My insurance covered most of the meds except for the HGH but $7.5K only cost me $1.5K so not so bad. I start my stims on July 15th. I'm wishing us both so much luck. I am on estrogen patches now as well to start and will be starting progesterone next week until I start stims. Hopefully this new protocal will work better. Always remember, it only takes 1 good egg!!!

tarajean- I have to keep remembering it only takes one!! i start stims on July 20th...my birthday!! I start lupron next Friday. I am on so many meds I can't keep track. my estimated ER will be at the very end of July. My ultrasound to tell me how many eggs I have is on July 27th. I am just hoping I get some good eggs. We are doing PGD so I hope I have at least two god ones to transfer. I am taking Royal jelly and bee pollen, CQ-10, fish oil and B12. Hopefully they help my eggs!!
I am that this is our month!!!!!

Insurance

My IVF is not covered, but my doctor on my last cycle managed to put through the costs. He did not claim it as IVF but as other treatments. I don't ask questions...All I know it saved me $3,500 on my last cancelled cycle so I was GRATEFUL! My Health insurance in United Choice Plus and my pharmacy plan is Medco. They cover the fertility meds. I was VERY surprised with my first cycle and felt very lucky as well. I still have to pay $10K for my IVF try this month, but if I get a it will be worth EVERY penny!!
