Pof And Ivf

Hi there I had a few questions regarding my pof and IVF! Here's a little about me! I am 26 yrs old diagnosed with POF at 16 yrs of age. I have been going through IVF since last year had 4 transfers up until now I got pregnant this time around but had a chemical pregnancy and m/c. I was wondering because I have hardly any ovaries left and I don't produce any hormone whatsoever if maybe my m/c had something to do with me not being on Estrogen.

When you are pregnant don't you need estrogen until the placenta is formed and produces it's own estrogen? The clinic took me off the estrogen as soon as I found out I was pregnant and I continued my progesterone but I had a feeling I needed estrogen?? I am so upset at the clinic because they have told us that the embryo will produce the estrogen! Please help with any answers you have !!!! Thank you so very much!

Mindy

Mindy,

I am so sorry about this last cycle! I am not sure about the estrogen issue. I know this is true for progesterone, but not quite sure about estrogen.

If you are interested in looking into possible causes and treatments of POF, I can give you a couple website links. I say this because many women with POF (esp when it happens so young) are in an automimme state and are creating antibodies to their ovaries- anti ovarian antibodies. You can test for these and do immune treatment which for some women has reversed POF. I am dealing with a different type of immune IF and doing the treatment (IVIg, etc.) currently. If you are interested let me know and I can give you some links.

Take care

So what did you learn? I'm also dealing with POF and your info might give me some talking points to discuss with my doctors.
