I've also had issues with short cycles ranging anywhere between 23-28 days. Some months I was getting a position OPK on day 7-10. My doc said don't bother to test prior to day 10. Ovulating that early...your lining hasn't had time to build up so an egg can't implant. I also have issues with low progesteron (ranging from 2.4 - 8.0) which may be due to short cycles...not getting the spike in prog. that I need. I tried Clomid...made things worse! I've been doing accupuncture for the last 5 weeks. Hard to believe my I got a pos OPK on day 12 this month! Hopefully this is a big positive! Also scheduling with a repro endo. I also suffer from Hashimoto's (an autoimmune thyroid issues) which may be effecting things. Always seems like one thing after another!!!!

Going to the RE sounds like a smart move. Make sure they check your CD 3 FSH and do an antral follicle count to ensure that your FSH levels and ovarian reserve are OK. I'm glad you got a positive surge on the OPK at day 12! That's great news. A lot of ladies on this forum have great success with acupuncture. Keep us posted!

Makenalelu, I would defintely see an RE. I think OB/GYN's only know so much and since you have thryoid issues too, an RE would be best. I also have been getting + OPK's very early (8-11 days) and I worried myself that my lining would not be thick enough. I talked with my RE and she and another RE there both felt that my lining was thick enough by 10 days. They said that since my periods are fairly light and only a few days (3 at most) long that the lining had enough time to thicken. I have had the lining measured 2 months in a row and it's been at least 8mm by 9-10 days which I think is the minimum. That may be the case with you too. Have they measured your lining at or around 10 days? This month my IUI's are being done on CD9 and 10. It sounds so early but my estradiol levels were showing mature follicles and lining was 11, so I'm hoping for a BFP this month.

I think the progesterone can be low when the cycles are short. My RE started me on micronized progesterone vaginal capsules last month after I ovulated. Maybe that would help you.

I've heard that clomid can make things worse. It can thin the lining more over time and if you have high FSH, chinese medicine says that clomid is a no-no. I've heard it can shut the ovaries down and it certainly makes your night sweats worse if you already have them. My RE gave me the option of trying Clomid but after learning more about it (I'm a big reasearcher), I decided to go staright to injectibles.

Danielle- I'm so happy to hear that you ovulated. That's some positive news that you needed to hear.

Deanna- way to go with 4 follies!!!!!!
I didn't know clomid was bad for high FSH. I had 2 IUIs with clomid and 2 with follistim and I only got one follie each time.

I hope your 2ww goes by fast and you get a BFP on 3/6!!

I've made it to CD25 without spotting! This is a major accomplishment for me since I usually start spotting around CD21 and AF has been coming early the past couple of cycles (around CD24). I'm actually feeling "normal" at the moment!!

That's great Danielle. I would give anything to be "normal". I have been really focused on eating the foods that are supposed to help improve fertility, but since AF arrived I have had fast food twice and we just got the girl scout cookies my DH ordered from a neighbor- 8 BOXES! I was supposed to go in today to retest my FSH, but I had to cancel b/c we had some bad weather. That's probably a good thing b/c now I have another month to work on my diet.

AF has a way of doing that to you. I always crave bad food when I have AF! I've also been focused on eating healthy and foods that are good for fertility. I really just started doing this at the start of this cycle and so far, so good. Today is CD26 and no spotting (yet)!!! I have an awards gala tomorrow night so I'm hoping she at least stays away until Sunday.

Yeah Danielle, I'm happy to hear your cycle is longer this time. I hope you had a nice time at the awards night.

Shelli-Good to hear AF finally came. It's so hard to eat well when she visits and beforehand. It's like we crave all that bad stuff we know we shouldn't have. I have heard a lot of women with high FSH who have not been successful so when I read about clomid, high FSH and chinese medicine, it made a ton of sense that it gives you all the side effects and none of the benefits. I pulled my book "Infertility Cure" by Randine Lewis back out the other day and was reading it. If you haven't already checked it out, you should. It's an excellent book and really gives you a lot of ideas of what to eat and what not to eat based on your symptoms.

CD 28 and AF showed up. I was excited at least to make it to day 28 but still hoping against all odds that I would get a BFP. Oh well. Another cycle bites the dust.

The awards gala was very nice, great food and good company.

I went to B&N to buy the Fertility Cure but they didn't have it so I'm going to have to order it online. I'm looking forward to reading it!

That's a huge accomplishment to make it to 28 days. That means something is working right! I bought my copy of book from Amazon.com and got it in about 2 days.

Danielle, that's great that you made it 28 days. Hope you can track your temps and see when you ovulate so you can BD and get your BFP this month. Keep positive. It only takes ONE GOOD EGG.
