Hi there,
I am new here and want to know any advice that anyone has about my possible options. I don't understand the Acronyms yet so please bear with me. DH and I started trying for a baby about 6 months before we got married. We both knew we wanted children. After we had been married 6 months we approached our GP (in the UK) who reluctantly got us on the years waiting list for National Health Service treatment. After waiting a year I had several cycles of cycle monitoring using internal scans and blood tests. Then I had a Laporoscopy which revealed that one of my tubes is attached to the overy. Then as they couldn't see if my tubes were blocked I had a HSG (Very Bad No pain relief), then finally I was given a 6 month course of Clomid and told to come back in 6 months if it hadn't worked. We then migrated to Australia and saw a GP who referred us to the Medicare fertility clinic in Perth. We were on a year long waiting list and so have an appointment in August to see the specialist. My problem is I am very needle phobic so wont be able to go through a daily injection so our choices are limited. I understood from the UK that you can have IUI without daily needles but have been told different info here. Does anyone know of a Natural IUI procedure. I am confused. Thanks Angie |

My tubes are basically blocked, so we went right to IVF. I am not a fan of needles, but I can tell you honestly that it's not as bad as you think. I'm on my fifth day of stimulation meds after a week on Lupron, so have had a lot of shots lately. The needles are VERY tiny and don't even hurt most of the time. Having your blood drawn or pricking your finger while sewing hurts much more than the needles for the meds.
Some tricks are to ice the spot first or use a numbing cream, like topical novacaine. I also have my DH do it because I'm really not comfortable doing it myself. It helps to not see it going in. Good luck with whatever you decide! P.S. There's a link to a helpful acronym list at the top of the forum page. If you see others you don't understand, just ask. Everyone on this site is really helpful.
