Anyone heard of this?

My HSG results were just posted on my healthview account and while the doctor who did the procedure said everything looked great, the results state that there is a "moderately prominent fundal contour, favored arcuate uterus."

From the quick research I've done online I think this means that some part of the uterus dips down into the cavity more than it should. Anyone with the same experience or knowledge of this?

I've got an appointment for a mid-cycle ultrasound on Friday and I plan to print off the results and ask them about it, but I would like to be a little more informed when I go.

Any information is greatly appreciated.

Hi Jennifer, have you had an intrauterine ultrasound performed? If not, that would be important to have. You may have a uterine fibroid or it could be nothing. I had what they thought was a uterine fibroid but turned out to be a pocket of endo cells within my uterine wall. I haven't heard specifically of what you have but good luck and hopefully you'll have some answers soon.

I know the OP is kind of old, but I'll reply in case anyone comes across this.

An arcuate uterus is generally nothing to worry about. Yes, it does mean there's a little dip at the top, but it's considered a variation of normal. I would still have a 3D ultrasound performed, though, just to verify that diagnosis. HSGs are terrible for diagnosing the type of uterine anomaly. They're just good about telling if there's one at all.

Thank you ladies for replying, I had kinda given up this post for lost! When I go back to my doctor next month or the month after, I think I'll ask about the 3D ultrasound. That sounds fairly benign compared to the HSG which was really uncomfortable! Thanks again!
