I need help

I have been reading the inferitilty survial handbook and in it I read that cloimd can impair cervical fluid and cause the uterine lining to thin, which can reduce the chances of achieving a healthy implantation of the embryo. I have been on clomid for a year now and not gotten pregnant and I am wondering if this may be the reason. At my last app with him he is a gyno he had told me that he cannot understand why I am not getting pregnant gave a new drug to try with the clomid and sent me on my way. He told me to try this for 3 months and if nothing happen he will send me to a clinc. If this is what is holding me back well what the hell. but how do you know? I feel like I have just had bad doctor after bad doctor. I was on depo shot for bc for like 5 years until I was 26(I am 29 now) and I think this may have a factor in why I can't get pregnant. I don't know I am sooooo lost in all of this

My OB/Gyn said that you can only be on Clomid for 3 months, upping the dosage each month, then you have to move on to something else. He said if it's going to work, it will work within 3 months.

I agree - time for a new Doc, for sure. I would start looking for a fertility clinic - it took soo much stress off me when I finally found experts. Gynos really aren't experienced with and prepared for infertility so there is only so much they can do. After a year of TTC, most good docs say to go to a clinic.

Good luck and keep us posted!!

I also agree!! A gyno told us we would NEVER have bio children because of my DH's low sperm count! That was in October, on his last SA his count was up to 15.7 million from 7 million!! A lot of times I think gynos step out of their bounds when they say and do certain things. I wish you the best of luck!!

I have heard form different doctors that you can be on clomid for longer than 3 months. If it is going to thin your lining, it can happen right fromt he first month of taking it, an U/S can tell you very quickly if that is happening or not, though.

Cool

I read the Infertility survival handbook to, it's helpful in understanding all the medical terms and how our bodies really work. You should read Laugh'in Fertility, it's as if the author is reading your mind because she makes fun of the entire process of testing and treatment :-)

Does anyone know if clomid has any long term effects on the women who take it? My Dr is recommending this for treatment but am not too sure how safe it is. I'm wondering if I take it and months down the road if I stop for any reason will it cause any problems, anyone have any experience to share?

I just saw my new doctor this morning after being on clomid for 3 months with my previous doctor.
He told me that the uterine lining starts to thin.
Also the clomid stays in your body for 4-6 weeks after each use. So if you are continuoulsly on it when it will remain in your system.
The clomid can cuase slight birth anomolies and the more you have in your system is not good.
Ask your doctor about Letrozole. It is a clomid type drug but does not have the same side effect as the clomid with the thinning uterine lining.

If after this long it has not worked, I would say it is not going to.

Are you ovulating every month? Or do they have to give you progesterone to bring on your period?

Jenn

I tried Clomid for 3 months with no luck. It actually caused my to skip periods and lowered my progesterone to 2.4 one month and 8.0 another month. I ended up my last month taking 150 mg of Clomid. Make sure your doctor is testing your progesterone levels between days 21-23. That's really the only way to tell if the drug is working (unless of course you get pregnant!!!!) Hope this helps!
