Unhappy Hello! A new girl in need of hope

Hi! My husband and I are starting meds for our second icsi/ivf on Monday. The first was a . Our doctor told me on the phone that his gut feeling was that I'd never get pregnant and if I did I would just miscarry because my husband's sperm wasn't that good. I swear the urologist said it was fine, but it was few, so I don't know where that bit of gut feeling came from. I can't get it out of my head though! Any advice? Is there hope?

2/07 25 retrieved, 9 fertilized, 1 grade 1, 1 grade 2 transferred, other 7 did not make it to blast

Wow! That must have been really hard to hear from your doctor. It seems pretty insensitive. I think there is always reason to hope. You will have children, somehow, if that is what you want. Hopefully it will happen biologically, but if that is not possible there are other options and paths to take.

Good luck to you! I hope this is your cycle!

I had a smilar situation. My old RE told me after I had m/c that he thought I was going to m/c anyway because my betas and progesterone levels weren't that promising. He said that he didn't give that pregnancy much hope and if we tried again, then I would have to go with IVF only. Boy was he wrong! He was very insensatitive and cold to begin with. Have you thought about switching RE's? I did and it was the best discisions I have ever made.
Good luck to you girl, we are all cheering for you.

Hang in there! That sounds pretty insensitive to me as well; no one, esp. the MDs should ever shatter your hopes that way. There are so many options these days, keep the faith and don't ever give up your hope! Best of luck.

hello and welcome!!
I have to say that if my RE was being that insensitive I would be looking for a new RE! IF is stressful and heartbreaking enough without your RE being that negitive. Get a sec opinion!

I will be looking for your news of a BFP in the future!

If he is not confident you can get pregnant, you can be confident kicking him to the curb. You need to find someone who will try everything in their power to get you pregnant and be supportive of the whole process. You deserve someone who is 100% committed to this like you and your DH are. People beat the odds all the time.

Good luck!!!

Hey my RE and your RE must have to the same RE school! Mine talks to me that way too. She told me that my diagnoses of unexplained If was a "black hole" and again the "an abyss" and in the same breath advised I spend approx 10 grand on my next treatment! I burst into tears and then she asked me if I wanted couseling! It's actually comical

Thank you everyone for your support. If this cycle doesn't work, I think I will go to someone else. It's nice to hear from other people who know that there is hope. Good luck to those of you still waiting like me. Thanks again!

No Dr. should ever talk to their patients like that. EVER. As long as you have viable eggs and your husband has sperm, you have hope. I would go to a different RE, because the one you have sucks.

What bothers me the most is that he had the nerve to say this to you over the phone. He wasn't even professional enough to tell you to your face. I definately think you should look for a different doctor.

My parents were told that they'd never have children because of my dad's low sperm count.

They had 2!

Apparently a low sperm count is easy to treat with meds/supplements.

Even if that were the case, I wouldn't think the Dr. would tell you that. I'd assume he'd recommend a sperm donor or something.

Strange.
