Hello,

I have an US on Thursday to re-confirm this pregnancy is not viable. Last week I measured 4w3d and I should have been 6w1d.

I will stop my meds Thursday after my U/S confirmation.

How many days until the m/c starts? When should I expect it?

LGB - I'm so sorry that you are going though this right now For my first miscarriage, I passed the tissue 4 days after I stopped my meds. And for my 2nd miscarriage, it only took 2 days after I stopped my meds, but I had that big bleeding episode at 5 1/2 weeks. I think the meds were just prolonging things that time. As for the pain, I had horrible cramps. The cramps would increase in intensity as I was getting closer to passing the tissue. I tried extra strength tylenol and that did nothing. (It normally works for my normal period cramps) I then tried 800 mg Motrin and that seemed to work better, but the pain was still there. I also used hot water bottles on my abdomen and that helped some too. If I ever go through this again, I will definitely ask for some prescription pain meds.

Thank you Sanda-I have had cramping these past 2 days so I feel like my body is just waiting for me to get off the meds and it will come quickly. I go in on Thurs. for an US confirmation that the sac has not grown, etc. and then will get off my meds.

My OB said expect it to be a heavy period and take Motrin. I wonder what type of pain med I should ask for?

He gave me a cup to collect the tissue in to have it tested. Did you collect yours and have it tested each time? What did they find?

Did you do any other testing on yourself or your DH?

I hope the ultrasound on Thursday will surprise you and give you a healthy baby, but somtimes you just know in your heart that it is not working. I think that's how I felt with my first miscarriage. I had on and off brown spotting and just didn't feel pregnant. When I went for my 7 week u/s there was a sac measuring about 5 weeks and no heartbeat. I was just relieved to find out so that I could move on and try again. I cried for weeks but tried to convince myself it just wasn't meant to be this time. My RE did not suggest testing the tissue. He told me that it was just one of those fluke things that happens, bad luck in a sense. At the follow-up, I pushed for further testing. So he suggested DNA karyotyping for my husband and some clotting tests for me. My OB was willing to test me for Factor V, homocysteine, lupus anticoagulant, and anticardiolipin antibodies (IGG and IGM). I think there were a few other clotting tests, but my insurance would not pay for them. My husbands DNA karyotyping came back normal. My tests showed positive lupus anticoagulant, and elevated anticardiolipin antibodies. So my RE thought it was my body that caused the miscarriage. He called it antiphospholipid antibodies and he said that we treat that with daily lovenox injections. So with my remaining embryos I was to start the lovenox injections on the day of transfer. My 3rd FET worked, but I miscarried again. I think that there are other immune problems that can cause miscarriages and that their is something else going on with me but many RE's do not believe in that (including my RE). I've read the book "Is Your Body Baby Friendly" and it got me thinking that I need other tests and treatment. I just do not want to go through all that right now, so my sister is going to be my surrogate when I find another donor. I have found clinics that believe in immune problems but they are not located near me. You can check out Sher Institute of Reproductive Medicine. They have a great website and maybe you can get a consult. They do treatments for natural killer cells which I have read has helped many people maintain a pregnancy. They believe some woman have natural killer cells that might be attacking the baby.

As for the pain, for my first miscarriage, the cramps were terrible. It felt like I was in labor and had to push. I'm not sure if it was because I was further along. I did pass a big gelatinous like grey colored tissue. After that the cramps went away. With my 2nd miscarriage, it felt similar to a heavy period cramp, but a little more painful. I only passed a smaller grey tissue. I think I would ask for vicodin or something like that just in case.

I just saw on your signature that you have endo. I think some RE's believe that endo is caused by an immune problem. I have an endometrioma, which led me to research endo and fertility. I think the book I mentioned talks about endo and infertility.

Thank you Sanda. I am SO excited that your sister will be your surro, that is super!!!!

I think that if we're all give enough cycles, it could work eventually but since it's so expensive and we only have a limited amount of patience and can only take so much heartache, that we may not be able to try as many times as it takes. Not like a woman who conceives naturally!

I have had a lot of those tests done and they all came back normal. There are a few more that my RE is going to run so we'll see.

Hi LGB...I started bleeding 7 days after stopping meds. I was on protesterone and estrace. My baby measured 6 weeks and 2 days and was suppose to be 7 1/2 weeks.
