Hi,

I recently had my second miscarriage after IVF. Both times the exact same thing has happened. We saw a heartbeat at 6-7 weeks and then shortly after it had stopped. Also both pregnancies were considered cornual. They were both in the upper right side of my uterus. Luckily both D and C's were able to get eveything out safely with no damage to my uterus. Now my doctor wants to find out why they keep implanting there and why I loose the baby at 7 weeks. Are they related or two seperate things going on? He did an ultrasound guided D and C so he is sure he got the tissue from the fetus to test this time. Last time we had the tissue tested and it came back normal female so they are not sure if that was my tissue or not. In six weeks I am going to get a HSG to see if there is anything wrong with my uterus. I had a saline ultrasound already and that came back fine in the past.
I am worried it is a genetic problem and that would be the end for us for a biological child.
Has anyone every had anything like this happen?
I can't go through another loss as I am sure you all understand how hard it is. I just want an answer because if we don't find one I can't put myself through this again.

I can not answer about a cornual pregnancy.

It sounds like you need to wait to find out the results of the second tissue...if it comes back normal or abnormal.

I would also recommend going to an RE and getting a full infertility checkup that would include immunological, hormonal, and physical structures. I did this after two loses and I'm glad I did. My normal OB wanted to keep me and "try" again... but I wanted more answers. I was afraid of another loss. My RE (Reproductive Endocronologist) said it might be too early for me to be there with him, but I was 35 and told him I needed answers and he was fine.

I've seen many many women on here have 2 m/c's and go on to have a 3rd very healthy baby. Don't assume genetic right away, you really could have had "bad luck" or maybe there is something else going on that would help you stay pregnant but you need further testing to know what that is! Don't give up, although I am very aware of how hard it can be.

Thank you for responding. You have really been through a lot too. I am praying that your ultrasound goes well on the 12th.

My doctor said we will start with the chromosome test and the HCG. If those come back normal then he will do further testing. I asked about the immune testing and he said they can do that. He also said they can also see if it is a hormone problem. Although all my levels have been good because they check those all the time even when I was pregnant. I know I can't give up and each day is getting easier. I just want an answer I don't want it to be unknown.

I just had a second miscarriage with IUI and am in a similar boat. I just wanted to say that my doc was helpful with getting the testing- I said to him I am NOT waiting to have another before I get it done. He did it.

I am curious about immunological/ genetic testing or anything else your doctor suggests, and would love to hear an update. That is all I have as possibilities with the whole m/c panel coming back okay.

I keep trying to remind myself 2 doesn't mean it's over, but I'd be lying if I were saying I wasn't still anxious. Hang in there. Good luck to you in finding some answers.

Hey guys. I've been so tired that I forgot to check back on this thread. I saved it so I'll be updated if more info comes... But I'm happy about feeling so tired! I'm hoping it is a good sign!!!

So, u/s went well on the 12th... I now wait till the 20th for my 8 week u/s. Doc says that's a biggie b/c I've never officially made it past 8 weeks (my babies measured 6weeks but I didn't get those u/s's till weeks 8 and 9! SO, I guess they can shrink down...) So, if we see a heartbeat at 8 weeks... than we're getting a lot farther anyway...

Sooboo: I think it sounds like your doc is doing all the testing. I would have him do the immunological from the start... don't wait if he gives you the choice. My HSG came back fine and so did my genetics... so frustrating! But I'm on blood thinners and hormones now to give a good environment to the baby!
So, now I wait!

JessStillWaits: I understand how you feel at two. Technically though, the odds are still in your favor for 3 not to happen. 3 plus is rare. Only 1% of couples. That's at least something you can tell yourself when you are feeling low. Hang in there!

Jessstillwaits-- I am sorry for your recent loss. I know how scary it is when you have two miscarriages. You start to think there is something bigger and it may not happen. I guess we just have to hope the odds are in our favor that the third time will be the time!

I got my results back from the chromosome testing on the fetus and that came back normal. My doctor still suggested we do a chromosome test on my husband and I so we are waiting for those blood test results. I am still waiting to hear when my HSG is. My HCG is at 33 and they want it back down to below 5 so we are waiting on that I guess. I just want some answers.
