Cool need advise and support

Hello everyone,
Boy I never thought I would have to be on an infertility forum. But here I am. First let me start out by saying I am 35 and happily just remarried in Sept 07 and I have a beautiful nine year old daughter. My new Husband and I want a child more than anything. I thought it would be so easy because I have a child already and had no complications with her. Granted that was nine years ago but I still thought it would be no problem. Boy was I wrong! To sum it all up for you since Aug 07 I have had 4 miscarraiges. Yes I know you saw it right 4. And I was under the impression that infertility meant people who cant get pregnant. I do not have that problem so that must mean im not infertile right? No my third doctor just informed me that it does. I can get prego just keep losing the babies. I never make it past 6 weeks. My HCG levels are always below 25. I have had tons of bloodwork. I have one alle of the Factor V mutation and one alle of the MTHFR mutation. I have had the hsg test and all was fine there. All other test have came back fine. I have seen my regular ob/gyn and she just keeps telling me oh stop worring. So I went to another doctor who I thought would actually care and maybe give me more information. I saw a specialist and she just ran more tests. Thats when I found out about the blood cloting mutations listed above. She said to start taking baby asprin and 600mgr of folic acid and when I got prego again to have my reg ob start me on progesterone right away. I found out I was prego and called my regular ob and she said I didnt need the progesterone yet and to come in next week. By the next week I had miscarried again. So again I called and was told oh dont worry. So I called the other doctor and was told that when I couldnt deal with the loss anymore to just stop trying. Well needless to say I was very angry, hurt, mad and so on. I demanded that they refer me to a doctor that would help me. The doctor wouldnt but the nurse who was very nice did. I saw the new doctor and she was great! She listened to me and was not offended by the research I had done on my own. She agreed that the research was good and she put me on progesterone pill once a day starting at ovulation and also gave me a script for Lovenox injections to stop the blood clots from forming which they think is causing the miscarriages. I dont start those til I get pregnant. Also keep taking the baby asprin and folic acid. I guess I am just wondering if anyone else has had any of these issues or has any advise? I am emotionally drained. It is so hard and I feel so broken. It also makes me feel very bad that now if I do get pregnant again it is so hard not to be excited but it seams like im constantly disappointed and my poor husband doesnt know what to do. Just looking for any advise???

Thanks,

Cindy

It definately sounds like you have been having a very tough time. I've had two miscarriages and that was more than enough to devistate me. I think you have done the right thing by demanding to see a specialist. I did that with this current pregnancy and so far things have been going well. But then my last miscarriage we made sure they tested the products of conception (they can do this for very early pregnancies also) and we found out it was a trisomy. So we know that was one reason but they also think I have maybe an immune issue and so for this current pregnancy I was on blood-thinner like your Lovenox until 20 weeks. So you are on the right treatment track now.

Anyway, I hope you find some good support on this forum. Many of us have been in your shoes, some are actually about to give birth to their very first baby after endless miscarriages, so don't give up okay.

Keep us posted on how its all going.

I am so sorry to hear about all of your losses. I too had many problems with my doctor (long story) but after the fourth loss I demanded to be refered to an RE. Best decision ever. Way more understanding and caring. We still had another loss with the RE but now we have 6 month twins. Keep your chin up- This too will past. You have come to the right place to talk. People seem to think that the more losses you have the easier it gets-That is opposite of what I felt. Reading your story brought back so many bad memories and I feel for you so much. If you ever need someone to talk to I'm here!!!

Do whats best for you-even if you piss off a few doctors!!!
