Question Need some opinions, me=good, she=problems

Hello,

I was wanting to see what everyone's opinion would be on an issue here. My wife and I have tried to get pregnant, but no success. They tell me my sperm is great, but she has endriomosis. Therefore, I'm thinking since we can't conceive, would it be a good idea if I donate my sperm to a bank? My thinking is if my wife can't use it, why can't someone else who needs it get it? Anyone think this is a good idea? She flatly didn't like the idea.

Thanks!

Rob

I have the same DX!!! I'm pregnant now!!! I would not be impressed with my DH either if he suggested someone else may be able to use it

There are tons of women on the forum who have endo and are pregnant and/or mothers. Don't give up on your wife. As far as the sperm donation...I would feel the same way as your wife. I would especially be upset if my husband were still considering it after I had discussed w/ him how it made me feel.

This is a very good topic. I wouuld think your wife would be more open to sperm donation AFTER you have a family of your own.

I am not able to have any more children. I have one beautiful daughter and for that I am thankful for.

My next door neighbors have a wonderful baby girl via a sperm donor. I see how happy they are and I would think it would be great if my dh's donation could make another couple happy too.

I think my opinion would be different if we didn't have a child to share.

Please take a look at all of your avenues to start building your own family. There are many women here that have success stories with being able to get pregnant with endo.

Good luck and please put the issue of donation to rest with your wife. Support her, encourage her and most of all be her rock and shoulder to cry on in her time of need.

Thank you for your reply, but point being is she is just flatly not getting pregnant and it's now impossible for her. If we had children, then talked about sperm donation that would be great, but at this point we're simply spinning our wheels. This whole issue has put an incredible strain on us and I don't know what's going to happen.

Can I ask you, what do you mean by impossible? Have you and your wife seen an RE? Has someone talked to you both about your options? IUI? IVF? Just curious. I hope that you and your wife can figure things out and be happy once more.

i agree - it would hurt me deeply if my dh suggested that while we are still trying to get pregnant. maybe after we have a child or face facts that it is impossible and move on, but is that your case yet? i understand the strain this puts on a marriage, but please make sure to be sensitive to your wife at this time, too. endometriosis is treatable and many women have gotten pregnant with it! i wish you the best.
