Heart 42 yrs. FSH 40

Hello!

So happy to have found this website! Heard yesterday that my FSH level was 40. I'm 42, and I was hoping for any info. on what my options are regarding ivf.

My doc (James P. Lin) is going to check my thyroid and wants me to wait to see if my period comes in next two weeks. (irregular, been about 3 months no-show) I'm not pregnant. I wish!

He then said that he would do more tests after 2 weeks, but honestly it was such a short conversation and my head was spinning. He said 40 FSH is usually related to menopause etc.

Please, if you know of anything I could or should do to lower my FSH level or jump-start my periods please let me know.

I started using progesterone cream last night, and took Estroven (black cohosh) with my pre-natal vit. last night.

Anyone else go through this? What did your doctor say and do?

Dhea

You could also try DHEA. It may help lower FSH levels. I'm using it right now and I know I've read about other women on this forum that have used it with good results. My RE uses Belmar Pharmacy in Colorado. Good luck!

Here's a more active forum for women in this situation that you may wish to visit - Women over 40 with HIGH FSH / Infertility

Common things to try are accupuncture and chinese herbs, wheatgrass, a high-fsh friendly RE, low stim ivf. Dr. Check in NJ is very popular for women in this situation. Definately do your research, and find someone who isn't dismissive of your case.

Unhappy I may be in your same situation.

I am 39 years old and had my labs drawn today. I am waiting on the results. I have not had a period in 3 months and have a lot of symptoms of POF. We were not done with our family and my heart is so sad at the thought of not being able to have more children.
