It's funny (well, not really), but I was just diagnosed with Luteal Phase Defect, which for me means that I don't have enough estrogen to develop my uterus or produce cervical mucus, and not enough progesterone to support a pregnancy. So, basically, I'm in premature menopause, as well.
Has your doctor checked your estrogen and progesterone levels during the middle and end of your cycle yet? If that's what's going on (which is usually how they discover you have the problem, but it could also just be a high FSH), then they can just give you injectible hormones. Don't worry. All hope is not lost. I haven't fixed my issue yet, but I feel confident that I can. Next month I start trying to.
Oh, and go to a reproductive endocrinologist for the tests, not just your regular ob/gyn. You'd have to, anyway, to get the drugs prescribed. And, to be honest, while your OB knows where all your parts are and how they work, an RE is a specialist, who knows how to FIX them if they're not working properly. See if you OB has one he'd recommend. If you have estrogen and progesterone issues (which categorize menopause, so you probably do), then Clomid won't really help. All that does is help your follicles mature if you're not ovulating correctly.
Good luck!!
