Fibroids and Letrozole (Femara)
I am 34 (going on 35 this Fall) and have been trying to conceive #2 for about 16/17 months. I have done 3 rounds of clomid (naturally trying) with no pregnancies. I have a history or fibroids (w/no symptoms) and had a very large one removed by myomectomy that grew while I was pregnant. We just had our first meeting with our RE and he seemed to think that all of our testing was coming back normal, but I had 2 small interwall fibroids just barely over sizing over into the "concern" area (2.2 cm). He has suggested that we try the drug Letrozole (Femara) which is a newer oral medication for a few cycles. It is supposed to NOT have alot of the side effects of Clomid (i.e. weight gain and mood swings etc.) and it doesn't do anything to cervical mucus, utrine lining and you don't get the "birth control" effect that can happen on Clomid. This clinic apparently had a several women get pregnant since January on this particular drug. I am curious, does anyone know anyone or have they taken this drug? I have read the studies and gone through the results with the doctor, I am looking for some first hand experience.
