How long will you try?

Just curious how long those of us TTC #2 or beyond will keep trying?

Are any of you worried about age difference?

I have always said that any more than 4 years difference is too much for me but as the days keep passing I reconsider that thought!

I used to feel like that too, that more than 4 yrs would be too much. But my sister has a good friend who had her son around age 33, then had 4 m/c's over the next 5 years and finally was able to get and stay pg at age 38 so there is almost 6 yrs between her 2 sons and her oldest son is just so thrilled to be a big brother and is so sweet with her little one. It is really touching to see them together.

I also have a good friend from childhood who is the youngest of 3 and is 10 yrs younger than her brother and 8 yrs younger than her sister. As kids, it was almost like she was an only child but now she is 37 and her sister is 45 and they are best friends and her sister's kids babysit for her kids all the time.

I also know someone who has a 10 yr old, a 5 yr old and a baby. It was her choice to have them that far apart so that each one would pretty much get her full attention in the formative years and she has no regrets about the spacing.

We're probably just going to try indefinitely. My brother is 8 years younger than me so I grew up with as an only child for a long time and then a baby was added to the mix. It didn't matter to me.

At this point, we're ttc but we haven't really done much this month. I know I o'd either yesterday or the day before, but my DH's job is really in dire straits and he's not making any $$$. So, I figure it's just not in the cards for us at the moment to have another one right now. We really couldn't afford it.

But I don't feel that I'm giving up. If it's meant to be, it'll happen.

That is a really good question. In my head I think I will try until the doctor or the insurance tells me that it is no longer reasonable to continue but in reality....I don't think my body or my mind will be able to go through the meds, the side effects and the waiting games too much longer.

I think as long as the couple is in agreement/supportive of eachother, they can try as many times as they want.(IF can put undue strain on a relationship). I used to worry about age difference, I really don't care anymore. 2 year or 10 year difference, we'll try to make it work.

I too use to worry a lot about the age gap but now I don't. My ds just turned 5 and it has given us a lot of time together but some days it is bittersweet because I have always wanted him to have a sibling to kind of grow up and play with. But I stay focused on him. I will probably keep trying until my mind tells me to stop but don't see that happening for a while. I am waiting for to show up so I can start my first round of injectables and clomid combo. Sending out hugs and prayers for everyone!! Good Luck!!
