I also posted this on the general site, but I figured I had a better chance of getting more answers on both. My progestene level in the follicular phase(3rd day of cycle) is 3.4 is supposed to be <1.2. I read that it is assioated with all types of bad things, and spoke with the icu MD and she confirmed everything that I read. Has anyone had this or know anything about this? Wouldn't my temps be elevated if my progesterone was up(they are 97.1-97.4)? I had it retested this am but I'm on day 10 and not sure if that matters. HELP!!!!!

When will you talk to the dr to find out what it means? Its nice you can look up your own results. I wish i could do that. I hope that they tell you its something they can fix and then you will be able to get pregnant.

I had it retested on Sat and it is a send out lab so my results will be back by Monday afternoon. My sister works at the hospital on Tuesday so she will look it up for me. I'll call my md after that, and I guess go from there. I looked up symptoms online and have none of them! I hope it was a fluke but then why aren't I getting prego. I really wish I could see a RE, I need to work on my husband.

I hope it works out for the best. Would your husband let you see an RE just for tests at first? Just to see if they could help you figure it out? Is he against you getting any intervention like medicine or is he just against you getting the more advanced infertility stuff? I hope you can persuade him if the current blood tests don't give you the answer.... I decided to ask my OB tomorrow about doing the more detailed blood work that you had done. I am also going to make an appointment with an RE and then cancel if i don't need it. I just don't want to sit around waiting anymore doing nothing... Did your doctor seem pretty comfortable with the panel of blood tests you had? do you think its a standard thing they do?

Yeah my doc was pretty comfortable with the blood work. I'm very proactive about things and came to him with what I wanted tested. They said that it usually doesn't show anything but it is still worth getting checked. My husband is most afraid of getting fertility help and then something being wrong with the baby. He did say that what ever my ob said to do is what we will do. He wouldn't know the difference in a RE and a regular endocrinologist, at least at first. After speaking with the ICU doc tonight he said that Sat. blood work would probably be elevated because the progesterone levels start to climb and said that I would have to get it redrawn next month. When is your appt with your RE?

Okay I'm not having a good day. The repeated test came back at 2.9, elevated again. I guess that answers why I have been trying since 07/06 and nothing has happened. I talked to the nurse at my OB today and she made me cry. She said that I need to be a patient and not a nurse. I have a big problem doing that. She was upset that I got the test repeated without telling them. Of course I mentioned that I got the results Friday night and they were not in the office then or Sat so the ICU doc helped out, without repeated tests we would have not known if the 1st ones were a fluke. She said I have to see an endocrinologist, but no RE. She said you will not get pregnant with the level that high, but if they can fix the labs then maybe there could be a chance. There is no reason to go to a RE which is not covered by insurance since they know that it is an endocrine problem and my insurance will cover an endocrinologist. That was nice of her. My doc is not in so I'm waiting for him to call me back tomorrow with what to do. I asked the nurse if she had ever seen this before and if they were able to get prego. She said she has seen it before and she said that every situation was different, she dogded the second question.

I am so sorry she made you cry. I think you did the right thing to get your lab redone. You needed to know and doctors are really slow sometimes. What does the elevated progesterone mean? Just that something isn't working right? That is why i want to get those blood tests too....the endocrine system is so complicated and so is pregnancy and it just seems like there are so many areas you can have a problem. If you had not asked for tests you would have never known why you didn't get pregnant. I am hoping there is a fix and once that is taken care of you will be good to good. I'm really sorry for your bad day. I was really upset too when i learned about my low progesterone and then again when i found out the meds didn't work. Its really hard not to worry when you know something is wrong in the way your body works.. But, it seems like they can fix a lot of things so don't give up hope...

Thanks for the support. The nurse just called from my gyne's office and said that the faxed results came in. She also said to have a glass of wine and try to relax until tomorrow when I speak to my MD.

Easier said than done huh? My dh is always telling me to just relax and it will happen and blah blah but its not that easy. Its very upsetting to know your body isn't working right and not knowing how to fix it. I hope the wine helps if you try that. After i found out my prog didn't work i went out with my friend for margaritas and i did help me feel better that night....
