New to forum

Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. My husband and I have been trying since 2002 after a miscarriage to conceive. I have a 12 y/o son. Since 2002 I've had two surgeries, one to remove fibroids and second to open both blocked tubes and remove adhesions. We gone through 3 cycles of Clomid and one IUI. We at the early stages of IVF. I'm on BC now. It is hard for me to deal with secondary infertility considering I was able to get pregnant with my son. I had my son at a very young age. I often find myself frustrated and emotionally drained. I come from a family of five girls. ALL of my sisters have at least 3 kids, one even has 7 and another has twins. I ask why is hard for me to concieve a second (and maintain) a second child. I just need to hear from anyone that has been there and truly understand how I feel.

I also am dealing with secondary infertility. I had no problem getting pregnant with my DD but I think maybe she was my miracle baby and I didn't know it. Good luck and welcome.

Thanks for the support; this journey has been difficult and stressful. I try to talk to my friends and family but they say the famous line "you already have one". I see my RE in the morning for IVF teach. This will be my 1st time with IVF. It seems so overwhelming and time consuming. Have either of you tired IVF? We have tried Clomid and IUI.

No we aren't going to try IVF. My husband doesn't want to do it and it's not something we can compromise on. I'm doing femara/follistim/IUI this month.

I got pregnant with my son at 16, so everything was in working condition. I NEVER thought that I would have a problem having more. I had a miscarriage in 2002 and assumed that I would be able to get pregnant again. Boy was I wrong. We have been trying since 2002. My husband is not too fond of IVF but is willing to do it. Since I'm so afraid of ectopic pregnancy and run a risk due to tubal damage, I'm open to IVF.

We've decided against IVF. Financially and emotionally it's too much for me. My RE doesn't seem to think that would be the thing for us. She feels if she can get the uterus/lining fixed we should be able to conceive since that is our only problem. But you never know! I never thought I would ever visit an RE, so I guess never say never! I think it's wonderful all of the technology we have today to get pregnant for our 1st, 2nd, 3rd or more!

When we decided to see a RE we said that we would only take meds, no IUI or IVF. When Clomid didn't work we moved to IUI. Now we are trying IVF. I said I will do one cycle and then go back to IUI. IVF is so time consuming.

Oh my gosh, that reminds me of me! At first I said no RE, if my OB couldn't get me pregnant we were done. Then I said I would only try Clomid. Well, since then I've had 1 surgery, 3 rounds of Clomid/HCG shot, 1 sonohysterogram, and now am seeing an RE to have another sono, blood tests, and injectables! It's really hard to say how far one one will go until you are actually in that position. I used to think fertility treatments were crazy. (Back in my uberfertile days) Now, I thank God for the technology out there to help us! Keep your chin up!

It funny I how when I was younger I was nervous about getting pregnant. I use to do the "Happy to see AF" dance. Now I dread going to the bathroom after 2WW. I'm so grateful that there is technology to assist with getting pregnant.

$$ On HPTs

I did it again today, I spent hard earned money on a HPT, knowing with 99.99% accuracy it would be negative. My RE just told me a week ago my lining was too thin to get pregnant. But of course my period hasn't arrived (expected it today) so out to the store to but an HPT. I think I have an addiction problem with these things! Of course it was negative, now just waiting for AF to show so I can get my blood work done. I wish I had saved my HPTs from my first pregnancy so I could see what a positive looked like. Ok, enough ranting on my part! I hope others are luckier than me this cycle!

Sorry to hear that it was negative. Usually on test day my DH always stop at Baskin Robbins for a scoop of mint chocolate chip ice cream on a cone. It wont change the test to positive but helps calm my nerves after. Stay positive and I will continue to that it will be positive next cycle.

Hello

Hi Imtrying2,

I truly understand how you feel. My husband and I have an almost 4 year old son and have been trying for 14 months to conceive. It took us 6 months after laproscopic surgery to conceive our first child. Now, I don't know what is going on. It is extremely frustrating and some days I just want to sit in a room and cry, but I fight back all of those tears and emotions so that I don't further stress myself out. No one can possibly understand if they haven't experienced this themselves. Everyday I hear about friends and co-workers who just get pregnant from thinking about it and think that 3 months is a long time for trying. So, I understand. Just try to stay positive in the face of adversity. I know that's easier said that done. We are going to try our first IUI procedure after the provera I am on kicks in to start AF. So, hopefully, that will work for us. I do not want my son to be an only child. We have to keep each other uplifted.

It soooo easy to get discouraged. We have to encourage each other. It's not so bad to cry. I actually feel a lot better after a good cry.
