Unhappy new to forums

Hello, I am new and just wanted to introduce myself. I have been ttc for 2 1/2 yrs now. I have a 4 yr. old little girl from a previous relationship. I got prenant with her while on birth control so imagine my surprise when I started trying for #2 with my hubby and nothing. We just went to the doc. this last week and she says there seems not to be anything wrong with me...so we had my husband tested. nothing wrong with him! it is so frusterating that there appears to be nothing wrong but nothing is happening...anyone else have this problem? I would appreciate some advice

allye! Did you go to your Ob/gyn? If so, you need to find an RE. What tests did they run?

I have had unexplained infertility for my whole adult life. I was blessed and able to conceive my dd and my ds each with first IUI attempts. My husband and I wanted loads and loads of children. We tried and tried IUIs again and again. No pg. We did not want to attempt IVF for many reasons (now I wish we had persued this). We then adopted three wonderful children. Now at 40 we are pregnant from donor embryos. My advice to you is FIGHT for what you want. God makes families in many different ways, but for some of us it is a fight. The process be long and painful, but in the end the fight is worth it!! You will find great support and information here wich will make the process more bearable. Stick with it and we will all rejoice with you when you get your BFP!

An RE is a dr who specilizes in treating infertility issues. Just my pesonal experience, but I did not have good experience going through infertility work with my gyno. They know basics of fertility, but are not up on the latest research and most treatment and follow up is beyond their scope. I wasted too much time before I went to an RE. Time is very important when talking about fertility. If you want you could continue on with that route for a couple of cycles, but if you don't have success I would seek more specilized help.

A Reproductive Endocronologist (RE) is going to do a lot more tests - blood work to check hormone levels, a look inside....possibly hysteoping to see if the tubes are blocked. Your best bet is to see an RE. What state do you live in? Maybe someone in the forum can recommend an RE for you to see.

Good Luck!!!

How old are you? I also didn't have any problems conceiving my daughter 3 years ago (when I was 38) and am having problems with #2. I also don't have any issues based on what my RE has said. She said it's because of my age.

Kidake,
I am 40. Your RE can run a blood test to see what your egg reserve is like. We found out in April that I was not a good candidate for IVF from this test (FSH blood test). We moved on to donor embryo donation (or adoption). I am now five weeks pregnant. It wasn't important to us to have a biological child because we have two and we also have adopted children. We just wanted to experience pregnancy again and have another child. This has been a great experience for us! I really would switch over to an RE if I were you. They will do some tests and put all your options in front of you. Then you can make a decision more quickly. Time is very important in this journey. Best wishes!!
Kay

I am also in the secondary infertility "unexplained" category. I have been trying for over two years and hope that my last try will stick! Good luck and baby dust to you ladies.

well switching to an RE doesnt seem to be an option right now...insurance problems I am still a young'n, 26 so I am not terribly worried about age(yet). I live in Alaska so I am not sure what we even have in the way of fertility docs. it is hard to have "undetermined" problems so I really appreciate all the advice and encoragement!

hi

Could you ask your OB to do some more tests? Maybe there is something they could check for that they aren't? One thing I know is that you have to take charge of what is happening. Doctors are only human and they have many patients. I had a miscarriage in june and would have gone on trying and had more if i had not asked them to test my hormone levels and found a problem. We are still working on sorting it out but at least I know there is a reason. My mom tried for 3 years and then decided on adoption and then got pregnant naturally with me so I do think it can happen even if it takes a while.... good luck.
