Question

What do you do when your dh says he wont have anyone touching his little guys? He says he doesnt want me to do anything that will hurt me. He has also said that he doesnt wan to do a SA? He feels that is just to invasive of his privacy. I am not sure what to do with this.

That is a hard one. Does DH want another baby? Maybe you can introduce him to this site. There are so many couples here with MF, some that don't produce sperm or those that have to have medical procedures to procure the sperm. A SA, in reality, is nothing. It will tell the Dr. how good his 'guys' are doing.

I was lucky and my DH has not complained once about giving a sample (actually, that is the fun part ). But we don't have children and we needed to know why we couldn't get pg or keep a pregnancy.

Maybe your DH is worried that if is SA comes back less than optimal that he will feel like less of a man? You just have to reassure him that thinking like that is just so wrong. And if there is a problem with his SA, there are things that he can do to improve the quailty/quantity and therefore the chances of you getting pg. It is a matter of just waiting it out and hoping for the best, or getting checked out to find out if there are any problems and getting them fixed now.

Good luck to you

They have home kits that can test the sperm now. Would he be willing to use one of those?

I might be able to get him to do the home test. He does want another baby. The doc opened her big mouth and said since I had our dd that he doesnt have any problems and didnt want to test him. So now I guess he is going by that. I did see something mentioned about the home test but we cannt get it where we are. If I can get him to commit to the home test I sure will order it off the net. He might feel it is an insult to him manhood I am not sure. We have talked about this so far he is willing to do what we have done. The metformin and clomid but other than that he said he doesnt want to go in a cup.

I got my DH taking a multivitamin with antioxidants and also an extra zinc supplement for the same reason, he wasn't keen to do a SA. It was a good compromise, because it addresses the possibility of a sperm problem without having to actually confirm anything. We don't think DH has a problem, but figure the extra vitamin boost will help his little guys just in case. Might be worth a thought if you DH is really not keen to get any tests done. Best of luck. Men just don't seem to understand at all about any of this do they?!!

I sort of know how you feel. My husband won't let us go to a RE. However I did get him to take vitamins and we did the at home sperm test. The only problem with the at home test is that it only tests for low count not mobility. The tests are about $45 and you get 2 in a kit. Best of luck with this. Hope you get your BFP this month.
