Anyone been on the progesterone suppositories and had side effects. So far I have none and i'm paranoid that they aren't working since the oral ones didn't. I really want them to work so I am wondering if I could tell in any way that they are working? Also, has anyone charted while on progesterone? Are your temps supposed to just say up once you start the meds? Mine went up but now back down so I am afraid that means its not working.

Hi< I used the progest. suppositories post iui each month for two weeks. they really made me experience pregnancy like symptoms each month which was annoying but reasonable. i used them to keep my pregnancy as i had miscarried after our first successful iui ended in miscarriage. it is normal to have a spike in temp when charting it means you ovulated the dip is post ovulation with no pregnancy(sorry). one good sign for charters is when your temp stays elevated it means you are pg. Are you using the suppositories for just two weeks? I haven't heard of them being used on their own before, always just with other pregnancy promoters. i have a beautiful 13 month old baby girl so i really do LOVE Those suppositories!!!!!

Thanks for responding. I am glad to hear that they worked for you! What kind of symptoms did you have when on them? I feel a bit more tired than normal but that is about it. My boobs always hurt this time of the month so i can't judge on that. I am hoping so much that they are working but I won't know for sure until the blood test. Did you have blood drawn to check your progesterone level? If so did you do it 7 or 10 days after ov? Everyone says 7 but my doctor is having me do 10 and I wonder if he's wrong?? I have another friend who had 2 m/cs and then used them and kept a baby so I hope it happens for me. Do they always do them with IUI or did you have low progesterone too? Thanks!

When will you know if the supp. worked? When do you have your blood work scheduled?

Blood test will be friday....probably will hear on monday. so a week from tomorrow... I am so hoping for good news. I have had some constipation the past two days (TMI i know) but that is a side effect some people mentioned so i am hoping!!!

Haven't made an RE appt yet....i talked to my ob this morning and asked them about doing some additional tests. I have to talk to the nurse and she talks to the doctor so I am waiting to hear what he says but she said they would probably at least check my thyroid because i have a family history and my temps are low. I would feel better if they checked the other hormones too though. She said she would also ask him about whether it makes sense to see an RE since I have other physical signs of low hormones in different parts of my body. I am fairly sure something larger than just progesterone is going on for me but i have to convince them. I am just about to call the RE place and see if i can make an appt.

Always go with your gut feeling. If you're not getting the what you feel you need tested then I would go with a RE. I dont' know why they wouldn't test you for everything, it's just a blood test! I was going to ask you if your temps were low and if your luteal phase is short. Do you have a family history of hypothyrodism? Do you have any of the common symptoms (intolerance to cold, fatigue, constipation, weakness, weight gain or difficulity losing weight, dry coarse hair or hair loss), just a few of them? I really hate the endocrine system, it is really complicated! I hope to hear good new on 10/29 about the progesterone working. Do you notice a difference in your temps since you started taking it?

I know...so far my gut feelings have been dead on. when I got pregnant in may, i knew right away something was off and I was pretty sure it was going to be a m/c and it was....and then I asked them to check my progesterone b/c I knew my hormones were off...and i was right about that....and then when i took the oral prog i knew it didn't work and when i called the nurse didn't seem to believe me but then we got the results and i was right. So i hope they trust me by now. Anyway, I am going to hear what they say and if its not what i like I'm going to the RE. The place I called said its only a 2 week wait until an appointment so I am going to see what the doc says first.

My temps are up with progesterone but overall across the whole month they are still below normal which they weren't when i charted with my other pregnancy. I do have symptoms of hypothyroid....quite a lot of them....but i've had my thyroid tested a lot and it always comes back normal. My family history is strong for thyroid issues and I had some eye problems earlier this year that they were sure was Grave's disease but it never came up + for that.

I feel like i'd have better luck with an RE since they probably understand this all so much better. My doc is really great but i don't think its his area of expertise.

Thanks for hoping for good news on my prog test. I think if they tell me it didn't work I am going to be really sad. please work!
