Introduce Myself/ LPD and late ovulation

Hi everyone!
My DH and I are blesssed with 2 living sons ages 4 and 6. Last January we were blessed with our third son. He had a fatal kidney condition and lived 3 hours and 20 minutes . We started trying for another baby in March and have had no success. There were some issues with my last pregnancy (there wasn't any amniotic fluid) but they checked the inside of my uterus and everything looks OK. We just started at the fertlity doc last month. Tests showed that I have LPD and low progeterone and that I am ovulating relatively late (day 19 and my period usually starts on day 29). This last month they gave me progesterone supplement but no luck Tomorrow I'm going in to start clomid. Anyone have LPD with late ovulation? Any success in getting preg?

I'm sorry that I missed your post. Welcome to the forum. I also ovulate late (day 19-20)and had progesterone around 5 when this all started.
I took clomid last month for the first time and am expecting my 3rd baby in September. My RE says that clomid is the real answer to lpd. Best of luck to you and I am so sorry to hear about your baby. You must be a very stong woman to get through all of that. I'll be praying for you.

I appreciate the prayers - it has been hard as William would have turned 1 on Jan 16th. I was hoping to be pregnant by now but things never turn out quite the way we expect (for better or for worse:-)

Have you always ovulated late? As far as I know this is new for me as is the LPD. After William's pregnancy my cycle was not quite right and then when I started tracking my ovulation it was obvoius something was "off". I've never had any miscarriages - I just was unable to conceive at all and my luteal phase was short. They were trying to not use fertility drugs because I have difficult to control high blood pressure and they are concerned about whether I could carry twins to term if I conceived them (though I carried 3 singletons to term) but they just decided to start me on clomid today and I am so excited!! Finally something that might work!! I'm very excited about your post - I love success stories! Congratulations

One other question...
Did you use the progesterone supplement with the clomid or just clomid?

Audra! I don't have LPD that I know of but I have been on both clomid and progesterone supplements together. This was my 11th cycle of clomid. Every clomid cycle I have ovulated late (for me...Cd15 or Cd16 I would detect a surge). I ovulate right around Cd14 w/o clomid. I had 2 m/c's and both times my progesterone was really low so they started me on suppositories- 1 at night a day after ovulation (or IUI). This is my first clomid cycle where I actually ovulated early (yesterday, Cd13). Instead of protesterone, they will be giving me luteal HCG. This is supposed to trick your body into thinking it is pg and produce progesterone on its own.

I am sorry about your son. I can't even begin to imagine what you went through. I really hope that you will have a successful pregnancy very soon. Best of luck to you!

I am so sorry about your 2 miscarriages. Losing a baby at any point is so hard.

Thanks for the info about the progesterone with clomid. Since they can use both, I suspect they will keep me on the supplement but I'll find out when they give me the post IUI instructions. 4 more days of the clomid and then my mental countdown to the IUI begins:-)

Good luck this cycle! Hope you have a peaceful 2ww.

Audra- I don't know if I always ovulated late but I think so. My first child was unexpected so I wasn't charting. My second, I was ovulating on day 18-20. The month I conceive it was day 20. I really think that we were just lucky with him because I do think that I have undiagnosed LPD and my P4 was only 5 (I was already preg).

This time I was on clomid 50mg only. My progesterone went from 11 on natural to 30 on the clomid. This was my first month on the clomid. I had 3 follicles and I think that I conceived just one of them. I'll find out on Wed 1/16 at my 1st u/s. The risk of twins with clomid alone is only between 5-10% depending on what sorce you read. My doc says that the best thing for LPD is clomid.

Best of luck to you honey. I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Hi Audra,

I'm not sure if I have LPD but I know I do ovulate late in my cycle. I never had this problem the first time around. My RE said that sometimes after you have a baby, your hormones get all whacked and sometimes it takes getting pregnant again to have everything be normal again.

Looks like we're all in the same boat!

Good luck!
