Agglutination
Hello Everybody,
I've been diagnosed with severe agglutination, and obviously, we've had problems conceiving. Does anyone know of any medication or anything else for that matter. Any input would be much appreciated . Thank You |

Vitamine C is great, however, in megadoses. I've read that up to 20 grams a day will cure it. I've been taking about 8 grams a day for one month and had a FANTASTIC improvement, however the problem takes a while longer. I'm going for another analysis, and hopefully I'll see another significant improvement.
My count and morphiology are very high, but useless in the end because of the aggulitation, therefore poor motility. |

Good luck on your next SA. Hopefully the Vitamin C has helped. I agree with Teagan about getting testing for anti-sperm antibodies.

Wow John...up to 20 grams (20,000 mg) is unbelievably high. I just did a quick google search too and I don't see any websites suggesting doses over 1000 mg. Does your doctor know you are taking that much vitamin C?
If you don't mind me asking...what do you mean by "fantastic" improvement? My husband has a similar issue and now I'm wondering if he's not giving me all the details or if he's taking a high enough dose of vitamin C If you can find the info about using high doses to treat agglutination...will you post the website?

There are a few sites, just indicate "megadoses of vitamine C for agglutination" here is one site citing a study at the University of Texas.

My urologist did the math and calculated that since my count is very high, even though I have about 20% motility, it is still significantly high, therefore, he said keep on trying. I asked him about megadoses of vitamine c, but since prescribing vitamines is not a part of his protocal, he didn't touch the issue. I am taking the bull by the horns on my own. I've looked into the side effects of megadoses. Regarding vitamine c, it is water soluable, not manufactured nor retained by the body, hence no toxins. What the body does not need it will discard. If you have kidney problems or stones, some literature states that caution should be taken or drink plenty of water.
Regarding my results, based on gradient sperm washing, (I'm trying artificial insemination), in one month the numbers jumped astronomically. Under gradient sperm washing, the parameters are strict. They require at least one million of the best swimmers. Hope I've added some hope to someone. |

Hmm...interesting. You know...come to think of it...we are using (known) donor sperm in a couple months and our donor takes (what I call) a ton of Vitamin C. He takes Emergen-C (powered drink) in the morning, a multi vitamin, Fertility Blend at night, plus everything he consumes in a day that has it. When he went to get his SA done it was off the charts and they pretty much stopped counting. Now I'm stating to wonder! Keep me posted on what your results are this time around...sounds promising! Have you and your wife had the antibodies tested?
