One of the fabulous things about seeing all of these beautiful homes is that I get great decorating ideas.
Of course... I have to buy my decor at Homegoods and the like, but all my friends think I have great taste. If they could only see what I see. I love my job. Each and every client and kitchen is a new adventure. There's nothing better than nailing down a fabulous design on paper and then seeing it come to life!

I work for one of the biggest banks here in canada and I love my job I have only been doing it for 2 years. We had to relocate here then because my dh's company was claiming bankrupcy and I am from a small town and when a plant that employes 300 people shuts down you don't want to be looking for a job with all of those people. he was a supervisor at that job.

Dh has been a welder for the last 2 years for a very backwords company and not happy at it at all but he just got a new job where he will be using some of his old skills and making alittle more money for a much better company. he will have a tiltle and everything we are very happy about this things are looking up

Heart

I'm the Art Director of a local, community newspaper with a circulation of about 5,000. I'm also the web designer and network administrator and IT girl.

I also volunteer once a month and meet with a Mac User Group and help people with their computer problems, mostly seniors. They are a good group. I take donations but then buy a book or software to raffle off to the group. The donations also pay for our website and email account. They want me to quit my day job and just travel around and help them in their homes. I do sometimes, for a fee, but only on weekends.

DH works in a boatyard, repairing and maintaining boats, 6 days a week.

What a nifty thread!!! I love it.

I'm a clinical social worker. I'm Assistant Director of Mental Health, but actually I developed and now supervise the substance abuse treatmetn program for adolescents incarcerated in Louisiana.

DH is a professor of Health Education at a local university (not in New Orleans), close to our house. I'm the one who commutes to the New Orleans metro. area.

I'm excited to read everyone's experiences, so I don't want anyone to feel neglected if I also comment on Lou-lou's career as a kitchen designer: HOW COOL!!!!! I'm ADDICTED to HGTV and the like. We have a new house that doesn't need re-habbing, but it's blah. One of those tract houses (sp.?). The master bedrm and baby room are next projects. The living rm is mostly done.

cool.

I used to work in HR when I lived in NYC. Last position was Director of Staffing. I quit my job shortly after I got married becuase the hours were long and I traveled frequently and I was just getting burned out. Thought I would get pg quickly. When that didn't happen, I starting volunteering part-time with a nonprofit that assisted families with special needs kids. I loved it and thought about going into a career in social work (still do).

I found out I was pg two weeks before we moved to St Louis. I started a Masters in Social Work here and did a few semesters but then I started to feel like my son wasn't getting my full attention and he was my priority so I dropped out of the program. I would like to go back and finish at some point.

DH works for an employee benefits consulting firm, helping employers design and modify their health benefits program. I told him he needs to become an advocate for adding infertility coverage to medical plans!

A,
What a noble profession you have. You must be a very warm and caring person to do your job!! We need more people like you to help the "forgotten people" that are amoung us.

The nursery and bedroom will be a blast!! Buy lot's of magazine's (of which is your taste; traditional home etc) and get ideas from them. I stare at every detail of a picture I want to emulate and look at it for a good 1/2 hour to try and disect (sp?) all of the different themes and colors and patterns chosen.

Then I'll translate it into my own color scheme or room size.

Best of luck to you. I went mental when doing my son's room!! I bought too many magazines and was soon overwhelmed with great ideas (of which all would have cost a bloody fortune). Beware of that trap!!

I am a labor/delivery nurse in Louisiana. I work the night shift. I also have a counseling degree and worked with the mentally ill for a while. That is probably what has prepped me for being an infertility patient. lol
