Single by Choice

There are numerous reasons a woman decides to attempt motherhood solo. Whatever the reason may be, we need the support of family and friends just as much, if not more so than women in relationships. Some people have alluded that since I "chose" to begin this journey alone, I should have prepared mentally to handle it alone. The ladies here on this Forum have been so awesome! I am able to ask questions as they come up, I get to learn from your experiences. All of this is invaluable to me. But as of late, I have been feeling the need to network with other ladies ttc solo. I have done a search under "single mothers" but was unable to come up with any current, relevant postings. I have received a few PM regarding my solo journey, and wanted to know if there are more like me out there? And for those of you who have been on this forum forever, if you know a better way to search the site for what I am looking for, please let me know! Thank you ladies for all you have done and continue to do for me! I do not want to seem like I am not grateful for what I learn from the married women! It just feel that there are some aspects of ttc while single that only another single woman can relate to!

DeeDee,
Sorry, I'm not able to answer any of your questions but I just wanted to offer my support as you take this journey and applaud your courage. You are right, it isn't often that you find a woman who knows her true calling and is committed to becoming a mother and making it happen but I commend your decision. I have quite a few single women friends who haven't found their soulmate just yet and are your age or older and although they express the desire to be a mother at some point in time, they haven't acted upon that desire. You are the exception but in my mind, a very special exception.
Good luck and keep us posted

Thank you Theresa for the very kind words of support! It is appreciated! Being single, I do not always get the extra support (or instant support) a spouse or partner would bring, and friends or family who are not currently trying to conceive just don't get it! Thank you again, and let's hope for us both!

Hey deej, I am in a very similar position myself. I am gay tho I don't "look it" so I often get alot of ??s as to why I'm not married or dating a guy (from ppl who don't know me well) and ppl that do know me sometimes think I should wait just in case I meet someone. Well ya know what.......I'm 32 and personally I don't want to wait till I am about 40 to TTC. Nothing against anyone who does for whatever reason but for me, I wanted to start now. I wish sometimes that I had someone to share this journey with......I really do. But I don't and I have to focus on the reality of my situation. I have my own place, a great career, I'm educated, have a nice circle of friends, a cool puppy, and my parents are still married. So I have alot of blessings that others may not have, and vice versa. I try to remember those when i feel down. I think the more confident I am when talking to ppl about it, the better responses I get. Even on days when I don't feel so great I dont let ppl in on it, unless it's my closest friends who know me inside & out. I am trying to surround myself with good ppl, good friends, and that's all I need. I had one very close "friend", or so I thought, who told me the only reason I wanted a family was for attention and bec my other friends are having kids. I was like, WTF? Anyone who knows me, esp my close friends, know that I've ALWAYS wanted a family, single or not. That really hurt, but she's kind of a jerk anyway and it gave me a reason to severe the ties. She was also the only friend of mine who was unsupportive when I was an egg donor. She thought it was messed up and weird and she would've asked for $100k bef she'd do smthg like that. So it's like, consider the source.
Stay positive and you can always PM me if you want. Being a counselor during the day, I'm available after hours sometimes too, LOL!!! Have a great week!

Single and Excited by choice

I understand for sure.
My close family have passed, so I am good as far as talk amoung family. But I do have a close net of friends.. Wait before I tell you anything else you have to know I am from the south, the DEEP BIBLE BELT SOUTH, ok where was I ??? Oh My friends... well they think I am plum crazy.. But they love me and tell me that it's my choice. They might talk amoung themselves but I don't mind. As long As they give me a baby shower, I told them to talk away.

This is my 3rd day on Clomid, Not throwing up today, I think I had a bug or something.

About seeing that negitive sign on the stick, I deal with it ok for now, It hurts but sometimes I think I set myself up for the worse. That's not good. We should think positive. I hated when my mom would say that because I told her thinking positive doesnt change anything.. Then she said negitive thinking doesnt either so pick the one that makes you feel better... I still have trouble not thinking the worse.. HELP ME MOM.. This time I think I will try her advice...

Baby dust for all!!

Hi Deej,
It's tough but you can do it if you're prepared. I am in the same situation. I decided to have a baby while seperated from my soon to be ex. We were having marital problems and moved out. Three years later i got diagnosed with endo. I was so hurt in my marriage that i didn't want anything to do with men, so i decided to find a donor. I was so blessed that I concieved on the first attempt with IVF. I have a beautiful baby girl who is now six months. I just recently got off disability, looking for a job and moving to another state to start a new life. It is true that those who choose to be single mothers need family and friends support. I was fortunate to have a great cousin who nursed me throughout my pregnancy. I lived with her till I had my little girl. She is my Angel. It can be done, and if you need someone to talk to please do not hesitate to send me an email. Good luck.
Rose.
