Hey Ona,
I didn't mean to insinuate that you were going to simply spin a wheel. I was simply advocating research beyond mere gender. I still do. I would no more pick a medical provider based predominantly on gender than on height or weight. But I almost certainly find someone who is board certified in his or her specialty and ask around. I have found that lawyers are often times a great resource to find a doctor because they may know who has been sued. I will also tell you that I think there are benefits to going to a larger practice, which I did. My RE handled all of my consults and any procedure during regular office hours. And he was the one and only one who developed the protocol. But for procedures that were necessarily after hours (namely weekend iui's), I would get the on-call doctor. In the long run, I'd rather have a practice large enough to accommodate after-hour procedures if the alternative is no weekend or holiday iuis. Just my 2 cents. k.

Ona,
I havent been on in a couple of days. Too busy job hunting. I am so sorry your going thru all this right now. I can just imagine how frustrated you have been feeling. I agree with everyone else. I think its time to look for another RE. I wouldnt decide on someone just on gender. However I am pratial to female doctors. I think they are more patient, tend to be better listeners and dont disregard our feelings! We know our bodies better than anyone and Female Doctors tend to understand that. Not saying male doctors dont. But however they are male, and we all know that men tend to think they can fix everything anyway....then add in that doctor factor...lol..sorry.. I am seeing a male doctor now but that is only because there are two female ob/gyn doctors in abilene and one is a QUACK.the other is booked for a year in advance! unless you are already pregnant. As for the meds. I want to strangle that doctor for you!!!! If anyone ever has a question about meds, my best advice is google the med, and find alternatives and never be afraid to question the doctor!! Teri, Congrats on graduating to Ob! I am very excited for you! To everyone in their 2ww for you!I go back to the doctor on monday. My testerone was elevated and the doctor wants to talk to me about it. Which I have called because I dont understand how he already told me if it was high what he would put me on. So why does he have to see me? why cant he just call in the script? So now I have to pay a 35 dollar co-pay for my insurance. Yeah I know thats not a lot. But since I dont have a job right now. I am watching every penny and trying to make the money I do have last awhile! Well everyone Have a wonderful weekend! ![]()

Hey all,
Kathryn, I didn't think you were implying anything at all so don't worry. I appreciate the advice, I just wanted you to know I wasn't just going to throw a bunch of names into a hat. That's one thing that bums me out...the doc I have now is one that came highly recommended. But I did a bit more checking now and found a few people who had the same complaints as me. The doc I am seeing on Wednesday doesn't have evening/weekend hours but she does work with a local clinic that is bigger and so maybe if I need to go in on a weekend I can go there. I will ask her all this when I see her wednesday. My last doc didn't have weekend hours either so no biggie. Anyway, we'll see. I will keep you all posted on how it goes. Today has been rough as I am still super tired from the medicine and I only took ONE dose. I had a 3 hour nap and feel a little better. Ok, I am off to hang with my friend's daughter who is over for a sleepover. Cheers, Ona

Wow!!! A lot of things going on since the last time I was here.
Ona - I am so sorry you are going through this with your RE. If you want the name of mine, since we are close.. My RE is in Annandale, and I would not trade him for the world! Where are you going again? And yes, I do agree, that is why I didn't choose the really large ones. Mine is small but great! Also, who is your insurance through? And does it cover IUI? I had a friend who could not take Met, but they gave her a liquid version which ended up working well. I am going to throw in my two cents about this feed store guy/cutie pie/hottie with the feed! LOL When he is there at work, what is it he is doing? Is it something that can get you to ask him a question about a product or something? Maybe see when the next horse show is because you were interested in going? There are endless possibilites on how to do the next conversation. I absolutly love starting conversations with strangers, (no lady not that weird lady in the grocery store) but I can just say hi, and before you know it, we are discussing life long goals... So if you want some help, I'll be happy to help. My girlfriends take me along as the person to "break the ice" go figure. LOL And I had no clue that we can just put our DS on "hold" so to speak, That makes me feel so much better knowing that. Teri - Congratulations on moving to an OB .Nurse - It is so funny that you mention that, I only wanted a female GYN as well. I agree they have our parts so they should know whats going on a little better. And most woman are more sympathetic or empathetic. I had not so good experiences with the male GYN's. I was just telling my RE on Friday I wish more doctors had a staff like his, and I could clone him. LOL As for me, I could not do my day 3 sono so I had to cancel that, my breaks on my truck decided to go out on Thursday night, and I had my day three planned on Friday. I cried a lot. So on Wednesday, I had my HSG, my left tube is still block (oh to make you laugh, I had always thought it was my right one, because of my looking at it on the screen) Also, I had these two huge polyps directly infront of each tube. RE began counting my days, and he said he wanted them out as soon as possible. So Friday I had them removed, he found 3 on my left side and one on the right side. Here is a question I had not asked him, what causes these polyps? He removed 4 last feb. just not that close to the tubes. So anyways afterwards, he sat beside me, and was comforting me because I was in some discomfort. He sat there until the pain meds kicked in, talking to my mom and I and rubbing my hair. The nurse was in there. I love my RE, he is like that with all his patients, he just oozes them with care, kindness and most of all he is a rockin awesome doctor. His staff, smiles and are always friendly. And while my mom was in the waiting room there was this drug rep that had provided dinner and the staff fed my mother! So I finally told my mother that I was going with DS, and she says to me... "Just make sure you don't pick out a psycho-path or a serial killer." She was so serious... I said her, I really don't know how to get that information out of the profiles. She giggled, "I guess your right sweety" Only my mom. Hope all is having a GREAT weekend

Gutted
Well I really thought it had worked this month. I'd been taking my BBT and I had a dip at 10dpiui and I thought it was implantation but than sat, Sun, and today my temp has dropped and I've had a little spotting so I guess I'm out this month.
I can only afford two more goes so I think I'm going to change my donor and maybe my luck will change. Don't know why but it seems to have hit me really bad this month. Good luck to the 2 ladies still in the 2ww. Susan

Hello Ladies
After crying all last night and today at work. I've decided to take some positive action. I phoned my local hospital to see where I am on the waiting list and lo and behold I'm the next person. Because we have a shortage of sperm here (the hospital doesn't have a sperm bank but relies on banks to send sperm) my local hospital asked my if I'd consider European sperm, well of course I said yes straight away. The hospital should be contacting me within the next couple of weeks to arrange this. I'm so excited, the hospital is like a 10 minutes drive from my house. The hospital told me to look on europeanspermbank.com. I'm like a kid in a sweet shop. Since I'm Rhs- Ive been looking at Rhs- donors and I have a choice of 6, all scandinavian and they all sound lovely. Think I'll be able to squeeze one more IUI in Manchester only because I know it'll be my good tube again and I don't want to miss a chance of it working plus I've decided to try my 2nd choice donor and I'll kick myself if I don't try him once. It also seems like the European sperm will be cheaper.
OMG please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Susan,
I'm sorry, too. I know after my first IUI I was so sure that it had worked, I was unprepared for the huge kick in the gut when it failed. And for me, with the medicated IUIs, my cycle came early and with a vengeance, which didn't help matters. I'm glad that you're planning for your next cycle with your Euro-sperm! Kathryn.

Susan, I'm so sorry. I know it hit me harder when I felt like it had worked. Twice I had this feeling in my gut that this would be the time so when I got the bfn it was just so much harder to deal with.
But I think it's a great idea to try another donor and great news on the EuroSperm. Yay!

Susan, I too am sorry this one didn't stick but so glad to hear you are forging ahead! What are you "next on the list" for with your hospital? Did I miss something? Exciting news about the ds too. I'd love to have a Norwegian donor, since I am 1/2 Norwegian. Plus we Scandinavians make such cute babies. hehe. ;-)
Kuddley, I'd definitely like to know which RE you use. I have a consult with the lady RE on Wednesday but if I don't get a good feeling I won't use her. I just went and got my records from my RE this morning. he was all nice and saying hi and thought I was there for an appointment, I felt bad, and then he asked if I was "taking the medicine" and then I didn't feel bad anymore because if after what happened last time the nurse STILL wasn't relaying info to him, then I don't feel bad at all. If the doc and nurse aren't communicating then they could really end up hurting a patient and I don't want to be a patient in a place like that. It's an insane day at work today so I better get back to it, but I just wanted to pop in and say hello. Cheers, Ona

***FEED STORE GUY UPDATE***
Ok, so good news and bad news... I spoke to my friend in AUstralia and another friend's husband and asked for advice and BOTH said I should just go ahead and email him... so after much procrastinating and drafting of the "perfect email" I finally wrote. Good news is he replied right away and was very sweet... Bad news is he has been seeing a girl for about a year... He was very nice about it and still wants to chat via email or when I come into the store but I am kinda bummed because well, he was just so nice and it would've been nice to have a guy that nice who noticed me and was interested. But it looks like it was just all my wishful thinking. Oh well...it was a fun dream while it lasted and it's nice to have an answer. Cheers!

Well I think it's great that you were proactive. And who knows? Maybe now you'll be less nervous when you talk to him and your insouciant charm will win him away from that other girl!

Susan, Glad to see you back. Sorry to hear about the BFN. However, I am glad that you still can go two more rounds if needed. I doubt that you will need more. I will keep my
that your cd3 u/s shows no cysts and that you can continue with another IUI ASAP.I am 12dpiui and feeling great. No signs of AF that I can see . Boobs are sore, back is achy and I have tons of blue veins popping out all over me. I didn't have that with my last IUI and Teri and my googling has told me those are signs of being pregnant Oh I am sooooo that this is true. Would you believe that I will be on vacation on my 14dpiui! I won't be able to have a beta until a week after testing with an HPT. I hope that isn't a bad thing. Oh well, it is what it is.Jen, Good luck with your pre-op apt. tomorrow. When exactly is your surgery date? Ona, Wow! I can't believe you emailed feed store guy. Bummer about the gf. At least you know now and can get over the obsessing and can now find another cutie who is available. Can you share with us what you ended up saying in them email and how the subject of him having a gf came up. Deej, Sorry to hear about you mom. I sure hope she isn't in too much pain. I know that she will be very grateful for the care and support that you will be giving her while she is in a cast.
