Oliver Benjamin!

I hope you are recovering well and have lots of helping hands to get you through the first few weeks of motherhood!

I love the name Oliver too! It's actually on my list for a middle name if I have a boy because it's my brother's middle name.

It would be really lovely if you could pease post photos on the yahoo group, once things are settled in with the new bub of course.

And for the newbies or those who still haven't joined, the url is: singlemothers2b : Single Mothers To Be

I will post again once I have my dr appt this afternoon. My appt is at 4pm

Ona, thanks for the infectious enthusiasm!

Deej, I always figured you and I would get pregnant on the same cycle! You are a little ahead of me, but we still have a good chance to be pregnant together. I feel like my time is coming soon ( ).

Yeah Susan Congratulations! I love the name Oliver! I can't wait to see a photo of you holding him. Do you believe that your a mommy now? My sister went through the same thing you did with the 36 hour labor finally coming to a close with having a C-section. I hope you are doing well. Much happiness to you and baby Oliver.

Ona, How did your apt. go today? I am very anxious to hear what your RE had to tell you.

Deej, Is your tummy starting to look any bigger yet? Sorry to hear about all of the nausea you are having. I wonder if dramamine would help. I know you can use it while you are pregnant, but just confirm with your OB that it is ok.

Viv, Actually the attraction of having a boy for me comes from me being more of a tomboy then a girly girl. I am big on outdoor sport activites, and I grew up always thinking that boys had more fun then girls as kids. I looked at my Dad and brother with awe like they were the coolest people ever. I grew up playing with more boys in the neighborhood then girls because I had more boy neighbors, and I've always had tons of guy friends. When I was 19 and talking about marriage and having kids with my 1st boyfriend, all I would imagine was having a little guy who would follow in his dad's foot steps and be this little sufer dude who played drums. I guess you could say that that image has never left my mind. Then again, there is nothing cuter then seeing a 3 yr. old little girl in her tutu taking her first ballet class, watching her play dress up with your clothes, and seeing the excitment on her face when she gets to ride through Cinderella's Castle on the It's a Small World boat in Disneyland. Opps, I think I just described myself No matter what I have, I will have fun being a mom. P.S. I love your analogy regarding Brazilian surgeons handywork with a scalpel. LOL and I can't believe that you were 106 lbs. before ttc (you must be a tiny thing) I haven't weighed that amount since I was 13 yrs. old! I've put on 10 lbs. with all of the fertility drugs.

Ms. Salome. I am so sorry for your loss. You are so young and have a full life ahead of you, and I promise you that one day you will be in a place where you will be able to find love again. As for now, your desire to have a child whom resembles your husband is very attainable. You can search for free on all sperm bank's websites for donors who have the features that you are looking for. The best time to look is when college students are back from summer break to make their deposits. More donors come aboard at that time too. I say keep searching the websites every couple of weeks until you find your perfect match.

Well, it's cd28 for me and I don't have any signs of AF. No PMS at all I never have had that. I don't know if all the fertililty meds for those two IUI's has messed up my cycle. I don't know what the heck is going on.

Hey all..
The new job is going well.. Just lots to learn. I went to the doctor at the beginning of the month. We did the provera then clomid. Not sure if i ovulated this month or not. I didnt notice any egg white CM. I was supposed to go to the doctor this week to do blood work to see if I ovulated, but because of the job change I am not going to be able to do it.So I am taking a month off and regrouping and starting again in September. In other news the boyfriend of over 4 years has finally gotten his act together and will be moving in with me in the next month. Am very excited.

Katherine... Only 4 weeks to go YEAH!!!! I cant wait to see pictures of him
Su.. Congrats on the birth!! What a wonderful feeling to be finally holding him in your arms.
Dee.. Again Congrats.. I will have to go back and look at the posts and update myself is this the result of timed BD with that guy you were talking about or IUI?

To all the new people HI!!!!!

Ona.. How is everything with you?

Greetings me lasses!

Well, my appointment went well. It started off a bit rough as I was annoyed at having to wait for 45 minutes!!!! But the doc was running late so kept my cool as she is a very nice lady.

We had a good chat and the first thing she said was that things were "looking stellar". She spoke directly to my oncologist who said that since I had been cancer free for over 10 years she saw no impediments to me pursuing pregnancy. She also said that my ultrasound looked fine and that the cyst was nothing to worry about. My HCG results were super good and all my pieces parts are working as they should. So, she said I can call her when my period arrives and they will schedule my u/s.

She says that because my hormone levels look great, I'm definitely NOT PCOS, and I have regular cycles and ovulate on my own, that she wants me to do an unmedicated cycle first. Well, mostly unmedicated, meaning no follicle stimulants but she will have me do the trigger shot and then take progesterone after I get my IUI. She said my chances with that are probably as good as any person who was BDing, so about 25%. If I am not pregnant after a couple tries like that then she said she'd move me straight to injectibles. She said that because I am ovulating there is no reason to give me clomid as that is more for women who have trouble ovulating or don't produce big enough follies, whereas injectibles are more for producing MORE follies to improve chances (but also runs risk of multiples). Also, given that the clomid resulted in a persistent cyst for me she thinks I should steer clear of it. All in all I like her approach as it is less invasive and it feels like she actually has been reading and analyzing my results and history and come up with a solution based on ME rather than just following a protocol.

So, now I just have to wait for AF so I can schedule my cd3 appt and see if that pesky cyst is gone. I have a feeling it is because I was feeling it over there and I don't feel that heaviness on that side anymore. Maybe that's just wishful not feelingness, but I am staying POSITIVE and thinking happy no cysty vibes.

OH! And she says I can order the ICI vials and they will do the sperm wash there, so that will save me over $100 per vial.

So that is the latest and greatest from this end. Now the wait for AF is on...well, there is still one major hurdle to come and that is my u/s on Thursday... because if anything is wrong there then I seriously doubt pregnancy will be an option... it's funny. I am worried but in a strange ambivalent sort of way... like if I did have cancer then oh well...so it goes... Been there done that...and I'll get a free boob job out of it. LOL! ok, I would be rather unpleased if I had cancer again...mostly because I dont want anything to interfere with me having a baby and because I would hate to lose all my hair again. The not having to shave is pretty nice, but the Sinead look just isn't me.

Oh and Viv... for the record...I happen to think I rock and men are just to shallow to see past my fat butt to realize how cool I am. But when I say I am fat, it's not a put down. I weigh twice as much as you. That's fat. In fact, my chart said "obese"...which really bothered me to read. But when I tell people my weight they think I am lying because I carry it well. In truth, I think that part of the reason I weigh as much as I do is cuz I'm probably carrying around at least 20lbs of boob! Not an exhageration ladies...they're a 36G... that's G as in goat! I joke that my boobs have made it a third of the way through the alphabet so they better stop NOW. Of course, I imagine that when I get pregnant, they will make it at least halfway through, but as a friend who is similarly endowed put it...the good thing about when you are pregnant is that pretty soon your belly acts like a shelf for your boobs so it is actually not as bad as just being buxom and unpregnant. So, if I had to get a mastectomy, I'd deal. Talk about insta-weight loss!

Ok, I've rambled on enough for one message.

Ciao for now!

Ona

Ona, I just logged on to see if you had reported in... it sounds like your appointment went pretty well. This doctor is definitely a much better one for you! I'm so glad you have a clear plan.

Now, just for Thursday. Once you get the all clear there it's smooth sailing for you, I hope! Now, when is AF due?

Interesting how different doctors really have different ideas of how to proceed. My doc wants me to go with clomid at least for this next cycle. He's afraid I will get too many follicles with injectibles!

Su, wow - 36 hours! yup, very good excuse! must have been so exhausting, but soooo worth it!!! love the name! Hope you and baby are recovering well from the long delivery.

Ona, wow, sounds like you are on track and the new doc is a huge improvement! u r 2 funny with your comments! I had a college friend who was a 42D and she didn't think it was too fun. She was fairly slender otherwise, but we were 18 so who wasn't?! Thinking POSITIVE is very important imho. No PCOS is xlnt news!

Viv, I bet once you hold your little girl in your arms, you'll wonder how you could have wanted anything else

Deej, everyone I know that gets pg. says it improves after the first trimester as your body adjusts. I can't wait to find out first hand, but I'll have to!

Saw pics on other site! Not sure when I'll get round to putting a few up. Should be working more right now yet! oh no!

Ona, great your doctor's visit was positive - looks like you and Jen will be going for it soon!
Funny what your doctor said about the Clomid, ona: mine as well said it was no use for me as in my case I didn't have any AF for many years, but I ovulated so she put me straight on Menopur.

Mindi, now that you explained, I can definitively see that the memory of your surfer boyfriend is a good enough reason for feeling the want for a baby boy! Hey, must have been a very special guy and I hope you do get your wish!!!

I can't really project that far in the future to imagine what this baby will turn out like - I have a very bad tendency to try to plan everything in advance and second guess what will happen, and this is one instace when I can't /shouldn't/won't - don't even want to try to imagine what she'll look like - though it's difficult not to, I admit! One thing I do know: ballet will not be my suggestion: bad -if brief-memories from childhood...

I'm a water sports person - swimming, diving, waterskiing, sailing... so I hope she turns out to love water as much as I do! )

Su, I hope Oliver and you are doing well - it must be quite a change when you actually BECOME a mom!!

Kathryn, no more contractions?

Deej, I hope you feel better soon; I heard that a bad first trimester means a good rest of the pregnancy, but I am not sure if it's true. I hope so!

Ona, It sounds like the appointment went really, really well. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for a good u/s appointment, too. Then you'll truly be on your way! And I hear you on the boob department. Before pregnancy, I was a 36-F. Fortunately, they haven't gotten bigger with pregnancy ... probably because I'm not gaining much weight. But I've heard that, after the milk comes in, all bets are off.

I've had a few more contractions, but nothing painful or consistent. I go back to the perinatologist and OB tomorrow, so I'll have a better idea of where I am.

Deej, how are you feeling?

Everyone else?

k.
