Ona, that sounds like a great size follie, and given the length of your cycle overall, it should be perfect sized by about Tues. - the loooong wait for you is nearly over for your success!

Flakey BF finally arrived to where I mailed the paperwork to him and said he'd take care of it and send everything back to the doc's office when we spoke on the phone today... ...we'll see, hmm? Actually, his job sitch is a legit reason for him always being on travel... he has to be on the road quite a bit or he doesn't make income... and he often takes on rush work, bc those pay the most... ugh! That means as he himself has told me, "never count on me". Lovely, eh? Def. the kinda guy that makes you want to scream. However, he's got some other ways that are truly incredible, indelible, etc. if you know what I mean ! I'm still on track with planning for IVF#2, stateside, and next cycle. I can't think too far beyond that, due to finances....

Mindi, let us know the results of the u/s tomorrow! You know we'll be thinking of you and rooting for you!

Jen, I'm wondering if your cycle being short isn't such a good thing? What about Lupron or at least micro-flare type protocol to give your eggies more time to form, then low level of stim, then trigger? Although, I did read one post by someone on some list once that IUI #14 did the deed for them, so I don't know. I'm sure no doc., but since you are young and healthy, I just wonder about the shortness of cycle being a factor perhaps?

Kathryn, wow, that would have been awful. So glad your job is ok! I have a very secure job, but have thought of getting a different one to reduce my commute, but your post makes me think I should maybe hang onto this job for it's security at least for a few more years (gulp!). But no matter what, you've got an adorable son now - yeah!!!!! I have known a few people to take unemployment saying it was great for them(!)... like extended vacation... at the time I was a little put off, esp. as I've always worked my tush off... but, still...!

Teri, things sound pretty tough. Hang in there, sweetie. Good you can be there for your dad. I'm sure he's appreciating you. As for m/s, hope it doesn't get too bad. I am def. not looking forward to that part of being pg.! But at least you know it's "working"!

Deej, glad to see you're here some again! I sense the sun beginning to shine for you again

Kuddleygal, any news yet?

We are still missing a few here, yes?

Hello Lasses,

Well, I am off to pickup the tank! Debating whether or not I should bring my camera. LOL!

Styltryn, I have that fb will come through for you.

Teri, I'll keep you in my thoughts. I hope the infection responds to antibiotics. Working in a children's hospital I saw a lot of kids with MRSA. Yet another reason I refuse to have my baby in a hospital.

Jen, it'd be nice if my cycles were actually the length they are SUPPOSED to be. Mine are normally 27 days and this one is looking more like 34 days at this rate...agh! I don't think growth rate is a factor, at least I haven't seen any studies, in fertility, but luteal phase length can be... it should be at least 14 days to allow for healthy implantation, but if your docs have you on progesterone after IUI then its a moot point.

Ok, I'm off...

Happy Friday Ladies!

Styltryn, hope the flaky bf comes through with the paperwork! My cycles are on the short side of average, but they are not really short. My doc really doesn't think it's a factor... my follies grow well and I don't (except for really weird cycles) ovulate super early or anything.

Ona, good luck with the tank! I think you should bring the camera... but that's from someone who's never actually seen their tank (it goes straight to my RE's office into storage and they send the tank right back). I get to see the vial before IUI, but that's about it!

Teri, thinking about you...

Ona, I don't know if it's true for you, but when I ovulate late, my cycle is also longer. My luteal phase stays pretty consistent (when I'm not on progesterone, anyway). Likewise, if I ovulate early, AF will come early.

Yeah! It's finally Friday!

Well, my u/s went interestingly. I was right, my cyst went on it's merry way from the acupuncture When I told my RE that I know that my cyst was gone, he checked to see it and it was gone. He asked me how I knew it was gone. I told him that I was doing acupuncture and that I felt it go away on my last treatment on Saturday. He was very pleased and quite excited to know that the acupuncture worked so quickly to get rid of it. I told him that I think I may have ovulated on Wednesday, but it was hard for me to tell for sure. So, we looked at the u/s a low and behold there was still a 13mm follie. To confirm whether or I O'd already I am having b/w to check on my progesterone level. I should know around 1:00ish what the outcome is. If I O'd then I am out this cycle. If I didn't, then we will see if the follie grows enough so I can have an IUI. Back to waiting

Ona, just so you know, clomid usually makes you have a longer cycle. So, that is probably why you were late with AF and that O is also later then normal. Looks like we are on the same path still with us both having a follie that is still trying to grow for this cycle I took pictures of my first tank too, remember the whole Kuma with my tank, my mom with the tank and my sister with the tank episode? Well, as those spermies didn't work I figured that it wasn't a big deal to take pictures of the past two tanks. Maybe I'll take a photo of this vial before the IUI. LOL

Ok, I'll post when I get the results of my b/w.

Mindi, wow...that's kinda wierd how our cycles are doing very similar things. I too had a cyst that ruptured so maybe that causes cycles to lengthen and the slow follicle development.

I had clomid challenge waaay back in April so I doubt it could still be affecting me...besides my cycles after that were "normal".

Please let us know when you hear your b/w results. I have fingers crossed that you are still in the running!

Ok, so I didn't take pics while p/u the tank cuz it was pouring buckets, but I did take a few shots at home. I totally remember your tank photo op with dog and such...that's where I got the idea in my head from. I think it'll be nice to one day "show jr where he/she came from"... I'm pondering investing in a video camera so that I can bring that along to the IUI, but I dunno...

Ok, time to do my daily POAS and then I need to get back to work. Gosh I am feeling really tired today! Must be the rainy weather. Just makes me want to go take a nap!

Ok, so add this to the chronicle of Murphy's Law that is my life...

I just got a positive on the OPK! I called the doc's office but they are gone for the day so I paged my doctor. I have NO IDEA what this means... I mean, the follie was not even 15mm yesterday morning... so how could I already be surging?

Good thing I have the swimmers but at this point I've no idea if I'll even get to use them because it all hangs on what the doc says when she calls... so now I wait, yet again... don't know if they'll want me to come in right away or wait (and possibly miss the O) or if the follie is going to be too small, or what... ARGH!!!

Anyway, I'm going to lay of water and hope that I can generate enough pee in concentrated form in the next 2 hours to do another OPK.

ladies - so much going on!
terri - i hope your dad recovers quickly
ona - i hope you reach your doc and do not miss your surge... do you have your spermcicles w/ you? or did you drop the tank at the docs office? i hope it all works out, and if you have your frozen buddies w/ you, and cannot reach the doc, you can do an ici!
styltryn - i am feeling much better but in no hurry to jump right back into ttc. i did however, fill out the initial interest sheet for foster parenting.
mindi - glad the cyst is gone! i had one that went away on its own. had it not, the doc was going to make me take bcp. ugh.
jen - i hope you do not get discouraged by the number of iuis it is taking. one of the first ladies i ever got to know on this website, she had 14 before getting pregnant w/ her twins. she was just like you, always encouraging others, keeping the ladies motivated, etc...
happy friday to all!

ok lasses...writing from my phone but wanted share the latest with you ladies. my doc called and asked if I could come down for an u/s. She said to bring the tank with just in case. So I am now sitting in my docs office. The u/s showed my follie is now at 22mm!!! Based on that my doc wants to do my IUI now! She said given how fast I am moving and the positive opk, doing it now makes sense so we don't risk missing the ovulation. I'm still a bit stunned. Please cross fingers for me.

Thank all of you ladies for your thoughts and prayers..I also wanted to say that my dad also has diabetes, which predisposes him to infections.and he generally is in poor health.I don't think hin having surgery at the hospital had anything to do with him acquiring the infection and I believe that the hospitals and dr's are doing everything they can.....anyway....ona,wow on the fast surge!!!and if you don't mind my asking, why are you so opposed to having your baby in a hospital?I had my daughter in a hospital and personally would have felt very unsafe anywhere else.toward the end of my pregnancy,my blood pressure started to climb and my ob/gyn was really concerned about preeclampsia.I never developed preeclampsia but in the event my blood pressure would have gone any higher, she was right there to do an emergency c-section if needed.when my mom had me,she had placenta previa and she almost bled to death.if they hadn't taken me c-section,we both would have died.I just think having a baby outside of a hospital is a huge risk.but to each her own..good luck on the iui!!!!...mindi,yay for no more cyst!!!I hope you get your iui this month!!deej, how exciting about being a foster parent!!..jen,fingers still crossed!!

Ok, here is the update: I didn't O yet, so I'm still in for this cycle I have to continue with the OPK's until I get a positive. If I don't get a positive by Tuesday then I'll go back in for another u/s to see what's going on down there.

Great news Ona! So, looks like you will be getting knocked up this weekend Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Deej, that is so wonderful that have started the foster parenting process. I know a couple who just finished their legal adoption of their foster daughter just the past Srping. She is an adorable toddler. Keep us updated on that process. I'm interested in knowing what it takes for a single women to foster a child.

I hope all you lovely ladies have a wonderful Labor Day weekend

mindi - the requirements are no different for married/singles. you cannot have criminal record, must have a separate room for the child ( currently i live in a studio type apartment) sadly the requirements are not that hard to meet. there is a desperate need for foster parents. i did read one childs description that preferred a single woman, no other children... just goes to show you that there is someone for everyone. foster parenting is just one of many things i am interested in, and beginning to explore. my area offers an orientation once a month, so i hope to attend the next one. looking at the pages of children was a bit sad though. so many infants w/ birth defects that obviously the parents just did not want or could not care for? at times i wonder if my true mother-calling is to care for the unwanted already in existence children of the world... but like i said, i am giving myself some time to see what presents itself and what direction i will go!

Ona - yeah to you! i do hope the timing works out perfectly! i was always confused about the surge on an opk, positive means that you will ovulate in the next 24-36 hours? had you tested last night or earlier today so that you know the surge is recent? supposedly the frozen buddies do not live as long as the non frozen, but it sounds like the timing should work out on both ends!! GOOD LUCK and my fingers and toes are crossed! go spermies, go egg!!!

Terri - glad to know your dad is better. sadly staph infections are most often picked up in hospitals. i have no idea why, that is just something i have read.

Hi all! wow, Mindi - just read you didn't miss your "o" and still can have a try this cycle! Very exciting!

Ona - the follies can grow 1-2 mm per day, so if you got the pos. OPK you will "o" soon. Just remember the IUI sperm only are vital for about 24 hours, so the window is shorter for them than for natural or ICI spermies. OMG, just scrolled and read you are gonna do IUI NOW....

Deej, foster care is an intriguing idea... I have thought about it... but I already kind of fostered my sis's two kids... even tho' they are close family, they weren't like me since they each came to stay when they were already 18... I'd try for younger age to have the most impact on their life if I did fostering for real. Curious how it is to try to go that route.

Teri, glad things are a little better!

Jen, I figured your doc must know if your cycle length were working for you or against you. Sounds like you're ok. If it were me, I might do bloodwork or saliva tests to see how hormone levels are doing through different points in the cycle... but still, if you have big follies, that's got to be a good indication that everything is progressing ok.
