Thanks Deej! Still bloated. The cramps are more like a dull tightness and very mild ache like I have with my period but every now and then I get a sharp twinge. I also feel a bit pukey... if I don't eat frequently I feel shakey like I'm STARVING but if I eat more than a few bits in one sitting I feel like I'm going to yammy.

Worst bit...I got on the scale and I am FIVE pounds heavier!!! I'm sure it's just water weight so I'm trying not to wig out. It can't be fat because I'm actually eatting less this week (minus my celebratory Ben and Jerry's attack right after the IUI)...but one bowl of B&Js can't make you gain 5 whole pounds right??? Last thing I need is to weigh more than I already do and it's too darn early for this to be baby weight. So, I really hope it's just the bloating. Ok, maybe I am wigging out just a tiny bit.

So, I'm pretty sure all of this is related to the Prometrium and/or the experience of having something invade my uterine cavity.

Other than my weight, the only thing I've been worrying about is whether or not I got the timing right. Most of what I read says you should time IUI to fall 6 hours before or after you ovulate. I got my positive OPK around 2pm but it was barely positive (line as dark as control instead of darker than control), then when I tested later that night around 9pm, the line had gotten darker, then the next day it was gone...so accounting for the fact that the LH doesn't show in your urine until about 4 hours after it hits the blood stream, my peak surge was sometime around 5pm, which is when I had the IUI... if it takes 12-24 hours AFTER peak surge to ovulate, then my timing wasn't 6 hours before ovulation unless I O'd really early. Still if the phelpses can live 72 hours, there were probably a few up there that were still hanging on and hadn't decided to just keep swimming out the fallopian tube... but I dunno.

Anyway, these are the crazy thoughts that go through my head.

I don't think I'm obsessing on the TWW or symptoms or anything cuz I figure most of what I feel is drug induced anyway...but I am a little obsessive about the first IUI. LOL!

Nothing new to report today... I'm 4dpiui! Ten more days to go.

MzVee, That is great that your new man is supportive of your decision to continue with your plans for IVF with your known donor. It sure would be nice if this relationship works out and that your child will have a daddy afterall. Good luck on your u/s. Let us know how it goes.

Well, I'm still in the game this cycle My follie is now 17mm. I am going to do the trigger shot tomorrow night and then have my IUI on Saturday I am going ahead and doing the trigger shot tomorrow night so I don't have to worry about doing OPK's. Phew! Boy, are my ovaries slow at producing those follies. Well, I've always had long cycles so it's not a surprise.

YAY MINDI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's excellent news!

Ok, colour me paranoid, but I'd opk anyway. This is just coming from the girl who decided to OPK even though I knew my follie was only 14.5 the day before and had ZERO expectation that I'd get a positive. You never know what can happen in a day.

Also, doing a trigger tomorrow night and then IUI Saturday seems a bit too long to wait to me...aren't they supposed to do an IUI 36 hours after the trigger?

It will be 36 hours. I am taking it at 9:00 pm on Thursday and then having the IUI at 9:00 am on Saturday, which is exactly 36 hours later.

I have also done some extensive reseach on how long frozen sperm that is thawed out and washed will last. It typically will last from 24-72 hours, but the potency it starts to lose it's potency after 12-24. So, that is why timing ovulation with frozen sperm is utmost important. That is why the it could take up to 6 IUI's. Let's just hope that we have on strong healthy swimmer that can hold on long enough to reach that egg.

I am back from my u/s... I have 3 good follies (19, 20, and 23 mm!). I trigger tonight and go for my IUI on Friday! Yahoo!

Okay, but I am also freaking out. My RE is not happy at all with the three follies (he wanted two). He is so worried about multiples that he wanted to cancel my cycle! He only agreed to go ahead once we had the selective reduction talk (complete with disastrous triplets and reducing stories) and I agreed to reduce if I ended up with triplets. This has me a little freaked out. I'm pretty sure that was his intention and I know full well that the chances of all 3 implanting are very low but I am still freaked out. Someone calm me down!

Oh, and more... I have to do the trigger shot tonight and I've never done it before (the nurses did it for me before), and I'm a little freaked out about that too. Advice welcome!

Oh, and more... my RE told me to trigger at 11PM but my IUI is not till 4PM on Friday. I'm thinking I should be triggering at 4AM... so this quandary has me a little freaked out too.

Calming thoughts please!

Wow Jen! Those are some fantastic size follies, and fast growing too I so wouldn't worry about multiples. My RE has never had the discussion with me once. It's so rare the triplets are conceived through IUI that I don't even know why that put that thought in their patient's head. I promise you that you will not become pregnant with triplets.

Now, as far as taking the trigger shot it is a bit painful, but only for about 3 seconds. You will feel some tenderness in the area for a couple of days, but it will go away. Taking the shot at 11:00 pm tonight and then having your IUI on Friday at 4:00 pm will make that 40 hours. It should be fine from what I can tell. I had b2b IUI's both IUI's. The first IUI was done 18 hrs after the the trigger and then at 39 hrs. This IUI I am having it at 36 hrs. Maybe you should just take it at 1:00 am to make it 38 hrs. That's what I would do. You can always call the nurse tomorrow and tell her that you were scheduled for 40 hrs. after the shot and that you were concerned that that was a bit late and can they get you in any earlier. Doesn't hurt to ask.

We are going to be 2ww together

I have had my RE cancel cycle before for two many follies, but i don't think you should worry too much about having triplets. Just concentrate on getting pregnant first.

As for the shot, I have given it several times. I usually give it in the thigh. I can tell you that the needle going in is not too bad, but a couple of hours after giving the shot, there was always a welt, bruise and the muscle is really sore.

I wouldn't worry too much about the timing either, if your RE says it. it's all about being within the window, for the ovulation and the sperm.

Just stay positive and don't stress.

Mindi, Charltac, thanks! I have since calmed down a bit. I know all of what you said, just needed to hear it from someone else, you know? I couldn't believe it when he started talking about cancelling the iui entirely! I was more afraid of that than of multiples... I mean, I know there's a risk, and I was comfortable with that until he started telling me horror stories! He is SO conservative. This is IUI #9, I'm prepared to take a bit of a risk at this point!

I'm not too worried about the trigger shot. I've had it before, just never actually pressed the plunger myself. I know I can do it.

Jen - is it ovidrel you will be using? it is given one inch away from the belly button. lightly pinch a piece of skin, and do the shot. it does not go into the muscle! i gave myself only 1 of the 4 shots i had, and no problems. it should not hurt much and should not bruise. i was nervous and it made me woozy doing it myself, but i did it!
i am glad your doc had "the talk" with you. triplets and then some do happen from clomid/iui's. usually unmonitored ones, but there is a small small small chance. there is also a thread somewhere on this forum about selective reducing. i am excited for you! three great follies, i know THE ONE will be there! good luck with your shot. i am a wimp, and if i could do it, you certainly can! this video is very helpful. now if you are taking a different type that is supposed to be given in the buttocks or thigh and deeper than ovidrel - do not follow the video! GOOD LUCK I know you will do it perfectly!!
