Just checking in ...

Ona, congratulations on both the new job and the new RE. I'll keep fingers crossed for you that insurance gets sorted out quickly.

Teri, I'm so sorry that you've been thrown for a loop. I hope the numbers go up so that you're ready to go forward with the iui on Monday. Keep us posted.

I'm fine. 17 weeks today. I played tennis last night and pulled a muscle in my lower back. It's not too bad as long as I'm still!

Well, I should get some work done.

Hi to everyone else.

Kathryn.

Thanks Kathryn!

Sorry to hear about your injury. I hope it isn't serious.

Wow! 17 weeks!!! Almost to the half-way point! I can't wait to hear about your 20 week u/s!!!!

You know...since you are "of advanced maternal age" and got pregnant by artificial means, you could probably push for a 4-D ultrasound on the grounds of being high risk. ;-) THose are just SO COOL!

Cheers!

O.

Hi Ladies,

Well, sounds like a lot of us are in limbo with ttc. Ugh! Maybe we need until it's Spring where it will be nice and fresh and the winter blues will be out of us.

Teri, don't worry about anything. This is your first time on meds and ttc. If this month is no good then it will be next month. Your RE is learning about your cycle. So, I'd trust her/him.

DeeDee, I live in Los Angeles, but I'm down in Carlsbad all the time to visit my brother and his twins. Let me know what you exact plans are and I'll try to come down and visit you. It would be fun.

Well, I have a little upsetting news to share. I will have to put off my iui this month as I have just found out that I have a cyst on my brain. It is benign. I developed uncontrollable muscle spasms throughout my body, head, neck and face last Wednesday. I went to the ER and had a CT scan. It came up negitive. Then I went to my spine doctor yesterday and he told me to see a Neurologist immediately. Well, it was Friday at 2:00 and of course I couldn't get into my Neurology group. So, I went to my group ER hospital and had an MRI. Again, it came up negitive. Well, today I got a call from another Radiologist who looked at my MRI again and he found a 11mm cyst calledl an Arachnoid Cyst. Apparently, it's on my neck. It is what is making those bobble head jerking movements and facial tics. I'm not in pain, but now I know why I have been having regular migraines for the past year.

I will let you all know what the Neurologist says on Monday. In the meantime, say a little prayer for me.

IUI her I come in April. I wanted a January baby anyway. LOL

Mindi

mindi, oh my gosh!!! are you okay? my prayers are with you! you have to text me or call me after you see the neurologist & let me know what he or she says.

kathryn, WOW 17 weeks almost halfway & i agree w/ ona..i'd definitely push for a 4-d ultrasound !!! do you know if its a boy or girl yet? i know you said that you had a feeling its a boy..

i'm definitely much calmer than i was on thursday. i called my RE's office on friday morning & i talked to my usual nurse & she said that they would re-test me tomorrow to make sure thursday's result was right. and she said that if it was, it just means that they wouldn't put me on clomid again, it will be injectables next cycle. on the other hand, i have had extreme hot flashes, ovary pain, sore breasts, & my opk sticks are getting darker every day. i've decided not to jump to any conclusions & just wait to see my RE tomorrow & get myself ready to start on injectables next cycle. i think it was the disappointment of them telling me how great my body responded to the clomid, then all of a sudden it changed. have a good sunday ladies !

Hello Ladies,

Mindi!!! Wow, what a scary experience. I am glad to hear it is not cancer and torn between feeling happy for you that you finally know why you've been having problems, and upset for you because this is another hurdle you will have to jump in your life. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. If it's arachnoid cyst I am assuming that means it's in the arachnoid layer of the brain, so that is good because it is not actually IN the brain, just on the surface...so if it doesn't resolve itself hopefully it'd be a minor surgery to remove it.

Teri, I am glad to hear you are hanging in there. I agree with Mindi... this is your first time on the meds, so not only is the doc figuring out what works for you but you body is probably going "What the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks is going on?!?"... I think it is also a positive sign that you are having these symptoms and that the nurses are going to redraw blood... like I said, sometimes it's just a lab error.

I hope everyone is having a good weekend. Mine is starting late because I had to work yesterday, but I have today and tomorrow off so it's all good. I also got TWO calls from two different folks who live out of town saying "Guess where I am?"... one was a friend from New York in town with her son (I was more excited about seeing her little boy to be honest cuz he's my sweetums) and one was my friend from Seattle in town for a suprise conference in DC. I went yesterday evening to see the NY friend and today I am off to DC to see my WA friend. :-) Busy Busy Busy.

Well, I am thinking of you ladies and looking forward to the next post.

Cheers,

Ona

Hi Ladies, sorry I have been awol... very hard to type with my finger all bandaged up. They have no idea what is wrong with it - it's acting like a sprain but it's not sprained. Anyway, it is slowly getting better and I can type now for short periods! Yay.

Teri, what a turnaround. Who knows, maybe it was just a one off or lab error. Wait and see what the next test shows - your other signs are good so you might end up being able to go ahead. And if not, well then they know better what to do for your next cycle (this process takes forever sometimes!). Good luck! I'll be thinking of you.

Mindi, oh NO! I hope it gets resolved quickly. Let us know what they say tomorrow! You are right, though, January baby is the way to go.

Yesterday was such a nice day I decided I would go outside for my exercise and figured a brisk walk around the lake would be a good start. But my shoes had died, so then I spent 2 hours trying to find the kind I wanted and by the time I got home and had lunch it was something like 4PM and no longer quite so nice. And today is all cold and gray skies again. Oh well, the next time it is nice (which WILL be soon) I have shoes ready to go!

Hello my beautiful ladies!! Yes I too have been AWOL. I can't explain it really. You ever have those days where you just don't feel like writing? I think I'm a little emotional. 1. I guess I didn't ovulate early like I had thought because today is Sunday and no sign of AF so now I'm angry again about the trigger not showing up in time. 2. I now have to wait until Wednesday 'cause this would be my 14 days of luteal phase after ovulation. 3. Promotion results come out on Wednesday and everyone is asking how I feel. My commander asked me if I felt I had a shot at it. I kept thinking in my head, "Would I be demonstrating high anxiety levels if I didn't?", but I simply replied, "I feel cautiously hopeful."

I just need a little regrouping time. I think my car problems were just the cherry on the sundae. By the way, the car runs absolutely great, but they must have jiggled some wires because now my A/C and my windows don't work . I have to take it right back on Monday. CAN I CATCH A BREAK AT SOMETHING!!

I'll be back in full swing ladies, I promise. I'm just battling this funk I'm in.

Lots of Love Ladies
Erica

Hello all.

First things first. Mindi! My goodness! Although I'm glad that it's benign, I still think growths in the brain region are scary! So keep us posted after your next appointment.

Teri, have you heard from your doctor yet? It just sounds so strange to react well to clomid and then have everything go south. I still sort of hope it was a lab error.

I know what you mean, Erica and Deej, about being in a funk. I really haven't felt like writing much. I just don't feel like I have much to say other than things still seem to be swimming along. I have a bunch of baby furniture in my garage right now courtesy of my friend, Shannon. And I saw Pete Sampras play tennis last Saturday night. Against Todd Martin. It was fun.

Hope everyone else is doing well. Ona, did you have good visits with your surprise friends?

Kathryn.

I understand being in a funk ladies. Sometimes it seems like I never have anything new going on (just waiting...) and it's difficult to keep posting. However, I'm gladly not in a funk right now, which is astonishing given the dismal state of the weather, work is an ever-changing disaster, and I'm still waiting... but hey, who am I to question a good mood? I'm planning to enjoy it while it lasts and I'm hoping everyone else feels better soon.

Mindi, Teri, any news?

Erica, still no sign of AF I hope...

Hi All!

Kathryn, seeing my friends was great! My friend from WA knows very well what I am going through on the baby front. She is considering a similar choice as she recently had massive fibroids removed and nearly had to have a hysterectomy...she actually went to L.A. for surgery because there was a doctor there who could save her uterus. She's two years younger, and potentially may have a boyfriend soon, but she totally gets the bio-clock concerns and is one of my ONLY single friends, so it was nice just talking.

It sounds like a lot of gals here are in a funk. I've been pretty low lately and fighting it. I thought it was just the usual PMS blahs, but I'm still not feeling my usual chipper self and it's almost LH surge time (usually I get a burst of happy energy around that time). I think I have myself to blame because I've been on a chic-flick binge lately and as much as I think James McAvoy is the most beautiful man alive and love watching cheesy costume dramas, the repeated watching of beautiful people and romance is reminding me of my alone-ness.

Chemo basically destroyed my metabolism and hitting 35 didn't help so I survived cancer but it left me a size 18 instead of a size 10. I look in the mirror and don't recognize myself anymore. Don't like how I look, and so don't expect anyone else to either (and my experience has led me to the conclusion that most people are shallow anyway). So at this point, I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that I will be single, but watching smoochy romantic scenes does hit a nerve... so maybe that is it.

As you can see, my funk doesn't seem to affect my writing. Coming on here is actually the one bright spot in my day.

I am thinking of all you ladies and hoping everything will turn around for us all!

Warm furry thoughts to all!

Cheers,

O.

mindi, how was your appt with the neurologist?

ona, i think we have all been in a funk. i had no idea that you had been through so much. we will all have our 's despite our problems.

i went to my RE today & i have 2 really nice follies..both @ 14mm ( so they have grown ) & my bloodwork today showed that my estrogen is going up ( it was 34, today it was 46 )..so i go back wednesday & they will tell me if it looks like we can proceed with the iui. they said that the fact that my estrogen is rising is a very good thing & they are optimistic, so !

Ok, so there was a funk amongst us! I hope everybody is feeling better now that this Monday is almost over! As soon as I posted about being in a funk, I had to ask myself what I was REALLY feeling. I began by making my gratitude list and the day started to get better... (and, i joined a gym)
Silverbrumby: reading/posting is one of the favorite parts of my day as well! words cannot describe how much i rely on you ladies for support, advice and friendship. sadly, many people are shallow. i am 37.5 and have not found "the one" but have faith that the man upstairs has the perfect one for me! the world is a huge place, and somewhere the perfect match is out there for me, you, and all of us, if we want one!
teri: i am glad your doc appt went well, and that your levels look promising.
elove: how goes it? feeling better as the day comes to an end?
lilac: glad to hear you are enjoying life, regarless of the weather, work and the forced ttc break! that is awesome!
mindi: how are you feeling? any news regarding the cyst? i hope you are healing and feeling well!

HOORAY TERI!!!!

I am so happy to read that you have two happy growing follies and an improving hormone level. If things look good on Wednesday, when will they do the IUI??

It's sounding like Wednesday is a big day for a lot of folks!

Deej, thanks so much for your inspirational words. I try to hold onto the hope that there is someone out there for me, but it's really hard some days.

I think the fact that my birthday is 12 days away and I'll officially be older then my mother was when she had her THIRD child and older than my dad was when he died, is really weighing heavily on me...

I talked to my manager yesterday and he said my insurance will kick in as sooner as the owner gets around to filing the paperwork. Apparently, the owner requires a fair bit of reminding on these things. He said he averages 30-45 days. I explained that I currently was uninsured so I really needed the insurance ASAP and asked if there was anything I could do to politely "nudge" the owner... so my manager is going to talk to the owner about it. :-/

Anyway, today was an ok day. I worked from home but that was a real challenge because I've had a massive migraine so I've been taking lots of breaks because staring at a pc with a migraine is NOT fun.

Still for mindi, teri, erica and all you ladies who are in the same boat as I am....on the bench!

Cheers,

Ona

P.S. POAS and today was my LH surge day. I totally did it on a whim because my calendar said it was LH day and I was feeling the changes, and sure enough I was right.
