Hello,
We've had a lively discussion over that last several days on the linked thread. One thing that came out of it (thanks for CryingInside's suggestion) is that many people feel they would like to be able to filter out certain forums when searching for new posts.

For example, people struggling with others' pregnancies might want to filter out the pregnancy and parenting forums from their New Posts.

Would it be possible to develop a filtering feature that would allow users to actively select which forums they wanted to exclude from the results in the New Posts query?

We have a fantastic forum here full of very supportive women. We've all found a very judgement free arena. The recent addition for the Parentings after Infertility Struggles has just been hard for some members when tough days come around or when they need an ultra-child free safety zone.

We don't want to censor anyone so this new feature would offer an opt-in approach to cross-board queries for new posts. Thereby maintaining the integrity and spirit of the board and protecting members whenever a time of need arises.

I hope this is possible and I certainly thank you for considering the request.

I agree that having the New Post filter function would be a great asset to the forum! My interests routinely change and it would be great to only see forums I am interested at the time when selecting "New Posts."

That is a wonderful idea!! Speaking as a person who recently experienced a loss, it would be nice to have that filter feature option available to people when/if they need it.

Sounds very sophisticated but if anyone can do it these amazing ladies can! I hope you can create a filtering system so we can all be one big happy bunch again. Keep up all the positive thoughts ladies! We're cheering you on from all the threads! It is such a tough struggle but every day is bringing you one day closer to that wonderful BFP!

I want to not only express my support of this idea, but also let the board admin(s) know that it *can* be done. I had a look in the vBulletin support forums (that's the software this board runs on), and found more than one thread about this feature that I'm sure could come in handy. Just one such thread was Exclude forums from "New Posts" - user settable - vBulletin Community Forum

I've never admin'ed a vBulletin board, but I have some experience administrating similar boards (like phpbb), which includes modifying the code to add features like this. If this is something the admins would like to do but they aren't comfortable tweaking the code, I invite them to PM or email me and maybe I can help.

This is not something we plan on adding at this time. It is possible that this feature will become available, as part of our premium membership, at a later date, but there are no current plans to create a premium membership within the Fertility Community at this time.
