I haven't been on here in quite awile and a few things have happened. Back in 2006 I started with my first round of IVF and it resulted in my beautiful son who was born May of 2007.
Skip ahead to mid 2008 I went for my yearly pap so that we could get the ball rolling for our next round of IVF. My OBGYN said that my thyroid felt enlarged and that I should get it looked at. A few weeks later I was diagnosed with HYPERthyroidism with two large goiters. In Jan I had a total thyroidectomy. I found out 2 weeks ago that I am now HYPOthyroid and they have started me on 125mg Levoxyl. My DH and I had wanted to go back and try for a little brother or sister for our son this past Jan but now we are in limbo until my throid is under control. My OBGYN said that our RE won't touch us until the thyroid is under control. I don't think I had a thyroid disorder the last time we did IVF so now I am worried about what it means or what affects it will have this time. If anyone has advice, words of wisdom or experience with this I would greatly appreciate some feedback. Needless to say I am concerned, it was bad enough when we were dealing with my endomitriosis, uterine scar tissue, DH low sperm count and low motility now we have the thyroid thing, is this the end of the road for us? (please forgive my spelling)

I hope you are still lurking here even though no one else has answered your thread. I am hypothyroid too. Well I was Hyper and had my thyroid killed with radioactive Iodine back in 2001. Since then I have been on Synthroid which is the brand name medication for what you are on. I was able to conceive and carry my son on the same medication. I just needed to be monitored more closely during my pregnancy. I was also able to do IVF with my recent pregnancy (a daughter) while on this medications. I just made sure my OB monitored it. Yes, I do know that your TSH levels need to be monitored and within normal limits during you IVF cycle. It's really no big deal or at least is wasn't for me. I was able to deliver a healthy baby girl in January. Good luck.

Thank you so much for responding to my thread. I go back to my endocrinologist on 6/2 and she said if my levels are ok I can go back and start TTC again. She upped my levoxyl to 150 mcg and seems to think that should do the trick.
