Ok I am home. Surgery is Nov. 30th The surgery is a bigger deal than I thought. I thought it was a day procedure with local anaistisia (SP?) but it's not. It's a 2 hour surgery, 2 day Hospital and a very real scar! The scar can sit in one of 2 places, it's my choice where. One-They go in the center of my neck (where a mans adam'a apple is) or two- slightly off to the side but still in the front. The scar will be very noticible so it's a decision to ponder. I need to make a decision on where the scar we be by The 30th. Also did not realize the surgery will slightly damage my vocal cords so my voice will be forever raspy and I will not be able to speak for long periods of time. This doesn't bother me so much as I don't sing well or speak publically. I've always liked a soulfull raspy voice anyway. The scar thing is a bit much but thats why they invented jewelry...right! I've always wanted a thick gold choker
So that' the scoop. The only way to avoid this is to have radiation but that would mean TTC would be put on hold for 24 months at least at my age that is out of the question! So lesson learned..check thyroid early and often! Thanks for you kind words and keeping me in your thoughts! Jen |
